I do not think it is fair to say/suggest the Witnesses are a 'more deadly cult' than Jonestown or the Branch Davidians. I know it seems clear that more JWs have died due to the blood transfusion rule than in those other groups, but the percentages are much lower. This kind of statement sounds to me like when the Society says 'More people have died in earthquakes in the 20th century than any before it' which always ignores the significantly higher population levels today.

I wish I had not been raised a JW and I am very pleased I never needed a blood transfusion, but given the choice of doing it all over again or growing up a member of Jonestown I think it is obvious which group we would all choose, and saying JWs are more deadly and thus suggesting that the Governing Body's rules are more life threatening to their group's members than Jim Jones must make us appear ridiculous to secular media.

I am a member of AAWA's facebook group btw, and have made quite a few facebook 'friends' through the group so I am not anti-AAWA, just sharing my opinion on this one subject.

Donating to charities discouraged by the WT

im trying to find articles from the wt and awake that show when the writers are discouraging charity work or giving.

from any books would be good also..

Ignore the occasional article saying good things about charity, what is the culture like? If an active JW told another he regularly volunteers at a soup kitchen most JWs would criticise him/her for wasting time that would be better spent on field service.

these guys read this parable got all excited!

and thought they were this mysterious slave, in can what only or almost only be discribed as a sexual frenzy, got all horny and touchy with some of their fellow slaves as they called them, for refussing their advances.

seeing that the master was delaying and being in a fustrated rebuffed mood they started eating and drinking with loose women/men, even got in bed with them fighting tax laws in the state of california.

Actually I think Russell came up with the date 606 which got pushed back to 607 when he discovered there was no year 0. Must admit I don't know how he got 606 though!

I need help when answering proof of WT being only religion

ok so i have already been talked to about this and i always have difficulty finding a retort.

my friend/elder condtantly tells me to visit bethel to prove its gods org--efficient, obedient, loving place, yadda yadda.

and he also uses how many go out and preach the same message, how no matter where you go youll get the same loving treatment, follow the bible as best they can (ha), show lots of love, do t celebrate pagan holidays, etc etc.

Good question. JWs have a large combination of rules and doctrines that make them unique, they then assert that these are the things God wants and that since they're doing them they must be the ones that God approves of. It's circular reasoning. You can't argue each point one by one until you've opened him to the possibility he's wrong and get him to be willing to face that.

JWs don't investigate their beliefs because they don't want to find out they're wrong. Too much to lose. Pointing this out directly is not such a bad thing.

SFPW is 'No room for George' and 'Theocratic Sedition' he doesn't believe the Governing Body is being used by Jehovah. Check out his Theocratic Sedition account and you'll see he started as a JW apologist then until he eventually got found out.

Quiet one, I understand your frustration but your post is not a waste of time, there may be many lurkers who do believe the governing body is being used by Jehovah, and this thread could be helpful to them.

for some time now, i have been arguing and debating and discussing matters of god and the spirit (who is christ).

i have tried to share as he has given me to share whenever he gives me something to share.

Like data-dog I don't really understand why people react in anger to someone stating their beliefs, surely as a JW we all preferred the householders who simply said 'No thanks, I'm not interested' than the ones who acted indignant that we were at their doorstep. Of course, by all means, challenge people, it's a discussion forum, but the 'how dare you' kind of response is just bizarre to me. Tammy is not a moral monster because she thinks Jesus speaks to her for goodness sake.
