Band, did you know they change the picture depending on where the magazine is issued? So the swahili versions have black girls, for example.

Why did God test Abraham?
by jws inwhen jws come around with their articles asking "is god cruel?
", i often point them to genesis 22:2:.
2 then god said, take your son, your only son, whom you loveisaacand go to the region of moriah.

It was a common belief at the time that the gods wanted child sacrifices, by having their god intervene the story showed the Jews that their god didn't approve of this act and they weren't to follow that ritual.

Involved with a JW woman
by jonza inokay so i'm dating a born-in jw woman, she's younger than me and has no kids.
i'm a christian man whos divorced with 2 kids.
we're in love and seriously want to be together.

Hey Jonza
Have you thought about what you'll say when the Trinity doctrine comes up with your children? I accept it doesn't get mentioned often but it's still a fundamental part of Christian theology and will come up at some point, and I assume you don't want to tell your kids it's a false doctrine.
Will they be allowed to celebrate birthdays (which is more than just presents) Thanksgiving and Easter? If they're not allowed to celebrate Christmas does this mean school activities based around the holiday are out too?

Where to go from here(new to TTHATT)
by Batman89 inas some of you know now im fairly new to ttatt so im still coming to grips with the fact that in my 24 years of life up to this point i have been in an organization that isnt the true religon that i believed.
im a very positve and optimistic person and have never been depressed while a youth in the "truth", but its still somewhat of a tough pill to swallow considering i gave up my dream of playing college basketball to get baptized when i was 18. and also the fact that armegeddon really isnt coming and i wont get to spend forever with my wonderful parents(who also know tthatt) and others close to me.. i also consider myself to have good social skills(that i developed during my rebelious years) although im somewhat of an introvert and always had "worldly" friends even when i was an ms but i im finding it tough to shake off the "all worldly people are bad" mentality that ive had for so long.
i guess my question is how long did it take you guys to get over everything and move on?

Laika
9 months out, still not figured it all out but you seem to have it much more together then me. :)
Start by finding a local basketball team to join, you can do what you love and will make friends with your teammates. Time around worldly people will change your opinion of them, just need to power through it.
Congrats on finding freedom!

Why do I bother to wake up in the morning?
by punkofnice ini'm not suicidal just fed up.. i did think of suicide (briefly), but as there is no painless way and it's not something i would willingly do just in case things would have been better the day after.
i do have a slight grain of hope.. money problems.....problems at home (that's another matter with a son up court for something he is adamant he didn't do.
first offence but the pigs police and the cps have got charges made.

The last year has been the worst of my life, sometimes I wonder how I'll cope if I have to endure another year like this. It's hard, so hard.
I am trying to train myself not to look past the present day.
I hope you get there punk, wherever that is, and if you work it out please let me know. And I might be up in Peterborough for a wedding in August so would love to buy you a beer as well if I'm around.

How do you get through the memorial?
by Gorbatchov infor family reasons, gorby and his wife and children has to visit the hall at april 14. our family accept that we are faders, but don't accept if we do not visit the memorial.. so, it seems a small investment: one evening love bombing for a year peace and rest.. but i hate the visit.
headache.
meeting the people knowing it's all fake love showing.. how do you get through it?.

I think I'm going to try to spot the rebellious 20 something who's there to please their parents (like me) to sit with or sit at the back with the disfellowshipped and try and have a bit of a laugh. I also intend to spend the meeting looking for anyone who looks like a study/disfellowshipped and then write jwfacts.com on a few notes and pass them out after the meeting.
But I'm going to a memorial where I won't know anyone and maybe give a fake name, as long as I can tell my parents I went they don't have to know anything else.

I don't find this stuff amusing anymore
by sparrowdown ini would just like to get this off my chest.. during the public talk last sunday the speaker (bro holden m'groin) said in public talk: .
" if you ask any 16yr old girl what she wants out of life, she would probably say a home, a family etc etc" (because obviously this is still 1955).. anyway that got my attention i thought " hmm....where is he going with this?"..
bro holden m'groin goes on .

A real friend is someone who will shun you if you disagree with them.
