That guy on the front row has his praise hands out! He must be a pentecostal or something!

Remember this picture?
by Zoos ini went to a small non-denominational church yesterday - first time in a church since i left the borg 4 years ago - and this is how i observed several of the members singing.. .
boy... do those people love to sing.. .
i try not to judge the sincerity of others but i was a little put off by the experience because it looked fake, showy display-ish.

What if the prophecy at Daniel speaks of religion?
by twice shy inhi, i'm new here and this is my first post.
i've commented on several posts before and enjoy the feedback on this site above them all.
i was researching some things and this question came to mind.

The Society used to believe the little horn coming out of the beast was protestants coming out of the Catholic Church.
Personally, I don't think the Society are relevant enough to get a whole bible prophecy dedicated to them. They just feel significant because you were once a member.

Memorial 2014, my observations and the "New Light" for the Anointed ones
by JustHuman14 ini have attended to the memorial, just for family reasons, but i managed to fish some points from the talk, that are tricky ones.
ok, most of the time has been consumed to point out who should partake the emblems, the 2 class dogma, and very little about christ, apart from the usual.
i thought the focus should be on christ and the fact he died for a course.. according to the speaker, the number of the partakers is 13,600 (i don't recall the exact number but it was just about there).

Wt. theology on this is just a version of Catholicism's Provisional Salvation and John Calvin's Limited Atonement.
Nah, it's more pelagian than anything else.

JWs know they're miserable, they just (wrongly) convince themselves everyone else is even more miserable and call this 'happiness'

but let's don't pretend it has any basis in knowledge.
I didn't, I said 'I doubt' not that 'I know', though you did just confirm I was right. I also think you're being deliberately obtuse, but I don't know that either, nor do I know what you're trying to achieve here. I guess I can argue semantics with the best of them. Meanwhile, I am done here.

Viv, as you know fundamentalist is a term that technically should only apply to a specific group of very literalist christians, but language being what it is now tends to be used as a pejorative term against any group of people considered 'extreme' in their views. Somehow I doubt you would be demanding Katewild explain herself if she referred to 'fundamentalist' Muslims, but if you must know, Katewild simply thinks Dawkins can be overly harsh on people who don't share his religious views, with examples provided in her post 503 (I also agree with her). Happy to help, I hope we can now go back to discussing the far more fascinating subject of human evolution.

Is there anything more boring than arguing semantics?

One step closer to a possible JW blood transfusion solution
by sir82 insee the article here:.
http://www.slate.com/blogs/future_tense/2014/04/18/the_wellcome_trust_is_funding_research_to_make_human_blood_from_stem_cells.html.
blood could become much less scarce if a british research group succeeds in bringing a version made from stem cells to human trials, and eventually to market.

And if the Society approves this, they will then no doubt take credit for inspiring it's invention.

Everyone has agendas.
Agreed, however I don't think there's a conspiracy anywhere quite as elaborate as the one justhuman is suggesting.
