Engaging in war between nation states is a sin, but praying for the war of Armageddon is a virtue.
May not be the worst but this still bugs me.

by Domenic ini was a jw for many years.
during those years i learned how to identify a false religion.

I always liked singing 'we thank you Jehovah' at the end of the convention, which always felt like worship. Until they updated the song and ruined it...

Christianity is a community religion, but you don't have to view church the same way we viewed meetings, nobody's going to punish you if you take a break now and then. (or, indeed, just quit altogether)

US Air Force to Atheist: Say God in oath or dont re-enlist
by Dis-Member inan atheist airman is being denied the ability to re-enlist in the us air force because he refuses to use the word god in his oath of office, according to the american humanist association (aha).. the unnamed member of the air force refused to take the oath containing so help me god, wanting a secular affirmation instead.
so he crossed out the phrase on his contract.
the airman was told by his superiors that he must swear to god or leave the air force, the aha said in a press release.

I am not quite sure how building a "christian" haven within the military is compatible with anything Jesus is recorded to have said ever, but American evangelicals are a bit strange...

A year ago today was my last meeting.
by quellycatface init was a sunday.
the shittiest public talk delivered by the most inarticulate and boring man.
as for the watchtower, there was something in it that repulsed me so badly, it made me question everything.

An older lady once said that if you don't scream Jehovah's name out while you are being raped then you are liable for the rape. The conductor was horrified.

Should I take the train?!
by DeWandelaar inthere are times like this moment i think of taking a train to my final destination.
i know i have some unfinished business ( got a wife and kids though jw), but i am really done with it.
i hate my life.

What is your final destination?
You can escape, I promise, but you need a plan. Never forget that you are your toddlers best chance of freedom, that is not worthless at all, no matter how much other people might make you feel that way.

"I don't care if it's teachings are false, I'd never leave because it's the best way of life"
by 4thgen inhave you ever heard that statement?
i have heard it many times and i just don't know what to do with it.
they are chosing a to live a lie because they like the lifestyle.

I've heard this said a lot and I think I probably said it myself as well, but I feel that in reality this is a statement that can only make sense to an actual believer. Though there may be a few exceptions the vast majority of people who lose their JW faith are very frustrated or angry at their situation, having to keep your opinions secret is a horrible way to live but JWs don't consider this element when making such statements.
