  diane abbott has often given me moments of amusement throughout the years.. whenever i'm feeling depressed, 30 mins of watching her varied gaffes on youtube usually cheers me up.. the following is a clip from this week (feb 2008) in which she seems to wonder out loud whether mao did more good than harm.

  it's great to hear michael portillo's initial reaction ("whaaat!

  ") and then watch him and andrew neil belly-laugh at diane abbott's comments at the end of the clip.. perhaps she'd been at the blue nun xd.

  It seems pretty common to have people rise up into significant political positions whilst being clearly unqualified for the role, the majority I can think of throughout history are white men so if we're going to blame skin colour/gender for unqualified politicians I would think we should blame token hand outs to white men first.

  whenever a hollywood actress has been propositioned or touched up, we know all about it.. but a story - mostly suppressed by the mainstream media - is emerging of far worse abuse of human females.. telford appears to have a grooming/sex abuse scandal of its own to rival the ones in rochdale, oxford and other uk towns.. it appears the msm, police and politicians and other authorities are very slow in learning their lesson from rochdale.. unbelievable that this case hasn't made the guardian or the bbc.. i guess the sisterhood thinks hollywood women are much more important than telford girls.

  The UK banned actual white nationalists from the country, this isn't a slander or dismissing 'conservatives' with an alt right label, Martin Sellner, Brittany Pettibone and Lauren Southern are connected to Generation Identity.

  If you think that leftists are too quick to brand standard conservatives as 'racist', going on to claim the Tommy Robinson types are standard conservatives is not going to help.

  And you can't preach and promote Islamic extremism in the streets, the UK government takes terrorist threats and incitement to terrorism very seriously.

  Clue re approach to Annual Report in Jan 2018 MWB

  Do we know they have negative growth? I am not convinced, in Britain I could only find 9 JW charities that have closed last service year, year before I found 20 closed, and they still had growth, but I don't know how often the charities commission update their records (each separate congregation is a registered charity in Britain)

  I suspect money issues were a bigger part of the decision to end the yearbook than a desire to hide the annual report. I am pretty confident they are heading towards decline, but not sure they are yet.

  yes, they don't agree with abortion and homosexuality, they believe in the bible and wear skirts and ties to church .

  but in many ways they're liberal.

  They are anti gun and anti war, which would tend to be more associated with liberal politics in America, and they are more skeptical of the strong nationalism of most American conservatives.

  This is asked a lot on here but I do think this is an interesting question, because of their 'neutrality' JWs have developed a politics which doesn't fit neatly along American sides, I believe this is why JWs are among the most racially diverse religions in America, their position has allowed them to avoid much of the racially charged nature of partisan American politics. If they had tied themselves to a particular party it would be an extremely different religion.

  if i watch a ball game or an awards show or some other type of entertainment, i really don't care about politics.

  i enjoy politics but there's a time and there is a place.. i think it's getting out of hand and it's getting pretty boring...but that's just my humble opinion..

  Luhe, I already said that 'farming is hard' so I don't know why you felt it would be a good use of your time to explain that very thing to me. I am not taking a romantic view of the past, as if I think we need to move away from much of our current economic values for nothing other than a reactionary opposition to 'progress' - instead, I recognise that our world has limits, and many of the current 'choices and convenience' will not be an option to future generations because we are destroying much of our Earth in the pursuit of them for ourselves.

  Whatshallicallmyself, the 'indigenous' view is certainly not irrelevant, regardless of population size and the scales of farming we need, we need to have a stronger relationship to land and place in order to preserve it for future generations - "During the last 40 years, nearly one-third of the world's arable land has been lost by erosion and continues to be lost at a rate of more than 10 million hectares per year." - There is no 'method of sustainability' in this, or 'different management techniques' that take into account larger populations - there is only destruction in the pursuit of our own conveniences.

  The mass destruction of our land is much more than a 'wrinkle to be ironed out' it will take a vastly different vision of our land, one that we would do well to adopt from native peoples. This will take stronger local economies and more local farming, far less greed and waste. I understand why we have abandoned the older practices of farming, I am a city boy and I can't choose this life (because I would have no chance of success - farming is hard) but I still recognise we have made a choice that is wrong. I hope we 'self correct' but I am not optimistic, not when we patronisingly insist we are superior to everyone else.
