I knew a VERY bad hoarder who was a witness with a mental illness. She used to hoard animals and was taken to court for it. Her house was seized and she decided to go to the press to try to get everything back... Unfortunately it backfired. I was looking forward to finding out whether or not it was her, but sadly, I can't watch the video from where I'm at in the world... Sigh -

Being in a cult - what good did it do?
by Garrett inso, here's a bit of a different point of view.
while most of us will agree that our time within the jw cult was rather terrible, however, i'd like to look at another aspect.
did anything good come out of being in a cult and then waking up from it?.

Hello everyone,
so, here's a bit of a different point of view. While most of us will agree that our time within the jw cult was rather terrible, however, I'd like to look at another aspect. Did anything good come out of being in a cult and then waking up from it?
for example, for me, I have a much greater appreciation for life. The way I will spend the rest of my life and my outlook on it has changed drastically and to be honest, I doubt I would have had this outlook if it weren't for being in a cult.
im also able to be extremely objective when it comes to any sort of religious discussions since I have known both sides of the argument personally.
lastly, I am more open minded than I have ever been. Waking up has essentially told me that anything could be true and not to discard any ideas without thorough research.
what about you, how have you improved?

Hi Everyone. Answer to prayer countdown...
by Stumpy ini've been lurking for about 3 months now and thought i'd better finally sign up.
you have all been an immense help to me as i have come to realize that this isn't the truth so i want to say a great big thank you!
what a crazy, emotional ride it is to finally face the truth about the doubts that i have carried for many years.

Hello and welcome! It's going to be a bumpy ride, but hang in there! I assure you, it gets MUCH better.
As for feeling like a fool...I think that happened to all of us, so don't be too hard on yourself.
Peace

Are Jehovah's Witnesses Happy?
by minimus ini know of the local congregation's issues, per an elder i know quite well.
he has said that nearly everyone in the congregation is suffering emotionally and mentally.
he said he has never seen so many witnesses with so many problems.

I love how witnesses say that those who leave become extremely unhappy. In fact, when I first left, I was a bit worried that my depression might get worst (which would of been hard).
funny how I now have no depression and feel the best I've ever felt.

" while a Jehovah's Witness, an elder once made a rant about yoga pants not being appropriate. I knew right then that it wasn't the right religion. Now, I know I've found the truth... I can wear my magic underwear proudly without worry of rebuke." -

Praying in Public?
by Garrett inhellloooo fellow apostates, mentally diseased devil worshippers :) how is everyone?.
today, i listened to a song about praying and how one can pray anywhere.
well, this song brought back the horror of sitting in restaurants, mcdonalds, coffee shops etc and having a group of brothers and sister bow their head and pray for what seemed to be an eternity.

How did you guys feel when this happened? What did you do? Personally, I would look at my food, thinking to myself "where shall I start?". I personally HATED praying out in public. It makes you look like a wackjob.
peace and love,

Who needs to study anything when we have the watchtower to tell us what to think. Only fools would do independent study... Apostates. -

Why people don't believe in God
by pressman indo you want to know why i think people don't believe in god?
well i believe people don't want to believe in god because they are scared.
they know that if they finally do gorge the confidence to believe in him, he might discipline them for their skepticism.

I'll give you my current take on god. I say current, because I'm at a stage in my life where I'm still figuring things out.
first off, you're speaking of the Christian God,however, if you were born in India, you would most likely be Hindu and would not believe in the Christian God. So your belief is solely based on where you were born and who you were raised by.
now, since we're speaking of the God of the bible I will say that ere are things that no longer make sense in my mind. First off, the flood seems impossible, second allowing rape (even if it was in the Old Testament, God would of known it was terrible and should of stopped it) what about slavery? Famine? Why wait until now (since everyone says the end is close) to take action? Jehovah would of proved a long time ago that he was right about the whole issue of universal sovereignty. why wait until the entire earth was filed with billions of people? I guess he doesn't want anyone to beat his record of mass killing, eh?
now what I do believe is this. I believe that we are here on earth, and we need to make the most out of our life here, not just for ourselves, but for others as well. We should try to help and positively impact the lives of those that we cross paths with. As for God, no one can provide sufficient evidence that he is or isn't, so I remain agnostic. However, I don't believe in the God of the bible or any of the other made up gods of different religions. I only entertain the thought that there might be s higher power.
peace,
gsrrett
