a strange thought came to mind when conversing with a fellow poster here on the phone the other night.
the conversation was about enviroment, culture, and society....... and it's effects on human behavior, desire, and thinking.. here is the scenario....................after jehovah put adam in the garden and just before he made eve........lets say he did it this way.
god makes adam......then after adam gets a bit lonely and horney........god brings to him a male and a female he also made from the dust.

I think that evolution has spoken for us. I think it was Gretchen who pointed out the fact that in overpopulated areas homosexuality is a necessity. It is a normal occurance and it should be treated as such.

i have this fascination with holocaust stuff, the memorial, movies like shindlers list, the history channels programs they have.
last night i watched the pianist.
it was an incredible movie.
I'm not sure if this is comforting at all but, many cultures/nationalites have suffered from genocide, not just the Jew's. A few examples are the Armenian genocide (perpetrated by Turkey) and the Chinese (see Rape of Nanking; perpetrated by the Japanese). It helped me get over my persecution complex (perpetrated by the WTS) when I realized that it is not an unusual thing for one culture to try to destroy another culture. It's happened frequently throughout history. History always repeats itself. Once you realize that you have no control over anyone else's actions it's a bit easier to give up a need to control it.

Jo and Eye, you have to be the most adorable friends here. I still don't really have a 'best friend' anywhere in my life unless you count my son. I promised his last school counselor that I would try to be more of a mom and less of a friend to him though. I'm not supposed to be both according to him. I still enjoyed watching him entertain a crowd of adults at a Christmas party a week ago. He danced for everyone and was asking for requests. I'm so proud of the way he interacts with adults. He fits right in.
On another note, could everyone please refrain from mentioning the movie (or book) Carrie on a negative note? I've had a lifetime of people asking my name, Carrie, and asking if I'm like that girl in the movie. No, I don't wear pig's blood and no, I don't have any telekinetic powers.
I'm very glad the two of you found each other. The genuine caring you two have of eachother shows in your posts.
I'm off to put on "burnt almond" lipstick so I can plant another smooch on Raybies cheek at the very next oppurtunity.

After reading the posts here I feel I'm very fortunate. My mother is pretty weak in the dubs. She doesn't make every meeting. She likes punk music. She's interested in politics. I encourage her in these areas quite a bit. My father is much stronger in "the truth" but he's realized that he's getting nowhere with my sisters and I so he's backed off quite a bit with the rhetoric. He mostly tries to bond with us by asking how our cars are running. As much as my parents frustrate me sometimes, I love them and they love me back. Even though I'm inactive and they could push for me to be disfellowshipped, they haven't. They know I celebrate holidays and vote and all kinds of things but they just avoid talking about that with me.
I guess the only words of encouragement I can send to people here is give it time. It may improve. As the only one of his children who got baptised my father used to needle me endlessly but, he's mellowed with time. I've been out 11 years so it's taken a while but, our relationship has improved. He's finally realizing that pushing me only leads to me pushing back.

sitting here right now after having root canal surgery this afternoon.
i don't freeze well so the endodontist had to administer 9 shots of the freezing "stuff" in there and it's now starting to wear off.
Yeah, none is better than any but I'm trying to distract you. Quick! Stub your toe! Just kidding!

Jojo, I wish I had met you often enough to get you. I think we'd get along quite well. The people here who 'get' me are Canadian so don't trust them!!! Rayzor and Iiz2cool and Petty and Out all 'get' me and I'm very fortunate that they do. Did I mention Rational Witness and his lovely wife?
On a happy note: I have a few email buddies who I rarely talk to but understand me almost as much. I got a book of Anton Checkov's short stories as a present. Wahoo! My best friend let me know he was alive; a present in itself, and I found an old Witness friend via the internet. I'm a very happy person because I've had so many wonderful people accept me as a friend.

Okay, as silly as it sounds this has worked for me: If my head hurts and I stub my toe, I forget about my head. Misdirecting pain can help. I read that today. Just thought I'd add that.
