Bradley,
Congratulations! It's quite an accomplishment to be on track in just ten months. I am happy for you.
well, it's been a good ten months since i walked away from the jws and it's been quite a journey.
i notice that the initial fears, self-doubt and rage are no longer with me.
when i first left i could hardly look at a wt or awake magazine without getting wave after wave of anxiety and frustration.
Bradley,

one of my children is facing surgery, and when we went in for pre-op discussions and tests, we met with the anesthesiologist's assistant.
of course, we told her we were jws, and noted that on the questionaire form, but she was quick to inform me that in my state, blood transfusions can be administered to minor children in spite of the parent's objections, even if they are jws.
state law precedent has been set in this matter, and they will get a court order if needed.. .
joe-from-kokomo,
In our area it is common knowledge that when a situation arises with minors and blood the courts get involved.
Jw's try to coax parents to make their kids carry a childs 'blood card' called an "identity card". They want kids to carry it with them at all times.
This is pure stupidity and a waste of time. In case of an emergency, not the parents, not the elders and not even the doctor can do anything. The law gets involved.
I don't allow may kids to carry an "identity card" and I don't carry a "blood card" anymore.
With all the changes in the blood doctrine, it is obvious to me that that doctrine is not supported by the scriptures.
Just my two cents worth.

Rayzorblade,
Regarding the Hugh's case of Alberta, the father was a JW. I think he was disfellowshipped. He stopped supporting the blood doctrine and ordered blood to be given to his daughter.
answers at a bookstudy from january 1976
the book: mans salvation out of world distress at hand!
published in 1975. its been sitting on my shelf, unread in years, and opening it i see that chapter 2 is marked about every 6 or 7 pages or so with dates where the book study for that night ended.
flashbacks of sitting through the study of that book are coming back. I can't beleive we actually sat through those boring sessions as young teenagers.
I don't know if I really understood anything. I just underlined and then just parrotted the answers.
The Isaiah book that is presently being studied has got to take the cake. It's full of cr#@$.
*how does the governing body differ froml a legal corporation?
(b) what were the members of the governing body doing, and under whose guidance?
this was evidently under the guidance of jehovahs invisible active force or holy spirit.
MacHislopp, I read your post with great interest. Thank you for all that work.
Its research like yours that reinforces in my mind that I am doing the right thing in drawing away from this organization that has filled my life with lies.
Thanks again! this is a keeper.

does it bother you that your kids are witnesses?
does it disturb you because you taught them?
Since I am still considered a Jw and I still attend meeting, I have to drag my kids there too. I feel awful. We are hopeful that by the time they get into the teenage years we will have made a clean break.
Hubby and I don't pressure them in anything. They don't have to comment, or join the school and during meetings they can go to the back as many times as they want to.
well everyone thanks to many of your comments and urgings i started my investigation to find the "truth" about the wtbts.
today, i wrote two letters to the united nations and i finally ordered crisis of conscience.
if any of you have any more suggestions or comments please reply.. .
Sandy, good for you for wanting to educate yourself!
Don't forget to add Ray Franz's IN SEARCH OF CHRISTIAN FREEDOM.
The friends on this board really helped me . I lurked for quite a few months. I read and read. I feel more educated now than in all my 30+ years in the organization.
All the best to you!

GREAT RESEARCH UnDisfellowshipped. Your post is a keeper. I'm adding it to my personal arsenal.
since we're accused by some of being so negative about jehovah's witnesses, let's start a thread regarding some positive things about being a witness or believing in the organization.
There are a lot of sincere people in this organization.
well, guys, here it is.
it's going in the mail tomorrow.
it's for me but, dad, it's also for you.
cruzanheart, AMEN to your letter. that was well written and touched my heart. I am really sorry to hear about your father.
