while responding to another thread, i was thinking about how so many of us talk about trying to help "believing dubs" out from the clutches of the wt, while at the same time, it occurred to me that we probably all have different motivations for doing so.

as for me, i am motivated to get my parents out because i think they have the right to know "the whole story" - not just the candy-coated version the wt espouses, so they can make better decisions about how they want to live the rest of their lives.

right now the wt makes all their life decisions for them - including whether or not they should look at what the "other side" has to say about them.

When it comes to my parents I want to make them aware because I am worried that in an medical emergency they are going make the wrong choice and refuse blood that might save their lives.

When it comes to my friends I can't bear to see them enslaved and wasting their lives away.

And on a selfish note I would like to see watchtower crumble. It would be small consolation for my wasted life.

well, looks like they do have a new date for the conclusion of the end, and that we should "be prepared".

even some people that commented said that 90 years of the 120 years have passed by and we should be prepared for the time at hand.

2034 people, 2034.... i've had enough, i'm talkign to the elder about this one, i don't care if i get labelled or not.

The version I heard was from governing body member.

It dealt with staying away from apostates.

there is an insidious rumor campaign in force among the members, probably instigated by GB members, to discredit any other professors of the anointing and to render them discredited merely for professing to be anointed.

Frannie, I have heard this too. There is talk about "genuine" anointed and those that are not. Someone told me personally that the number of "genuine" anointed could be as low a 800 .

As a kid, what did you used to say on the doors.

i guess this questions is for people who grew up as jw's... .

when you were out door knocking as kids, did the people who's doors you knocked on ever tell your parents that they shouldn't bring you out door knocking in the freezing cold, or did they ever ask you why you were out door knocking when you're so young?.

i remember both questions coming up fairly often since in england it is always winter, never forget the way this one old guy bent down and asked me why i was there and i gave the answer 'i'm here because i want to be' which was a total bold faced lie, but it was what we taught to say.. anyone else experience this?
