Seeing JWs in a positive light.
by ScoobySnax innot a new light, just a positive light.. sometimes on here i worry that all jws are painted with a bad brush when i know that not to be the case.
today i was looking after a jw patient on the ward and she was the most wonderful old girl you could meet, she really made me smile, and she was bright as a button.
later her family came in, who i didn't recognise and they were just as pleasent.

The org has the same mix of people as any other place. You have the really nice folks and the ones you could do without.
In my experience in the org I have met my share of good and kind people but an equal number of very insincere and hateful individuals that would not think twice to stab you in the back.

My wife wants me to write down my questions
by Goldminer in.
my wife knows i have many douts about the wts because of things that have happened that have made me question certain teachings.i have been inactive for 6 yrs now and i have no desire to ever become active again.i love my wife very much(she is presently inactive also) and i wish she would see my point of view or at least look into the society's past but she's a die-hard jw,hanging on no matter what they do or say.. anyways,we had a chat last week and she told me to write down all the questions i have and then she'll do everything to get me the answers.i'm assuming she'll give the question list to an elder she believes she can trust and he'll come up with logical answers to all my questions, then i'll humbly return to all my meetings and progress spiritually.. i'm asking everyone's help to draw up a good list even though i am not very confident of getting any real, logical or intelligent answers to all of them.i understand if the elders are stumbled by these questions, they might take the easy route-label me an apostate and try to df me.if that's the case then i'll stand my ground and hopefully my wife will see that nobody really wants to answer my questions.. a co once tried to answer my questions about 607 vs 587.i told my wife when he runs out of real proof and answers he'll tell me to wait on jehovah.that's exactly what happened!!!!!.
thank you everyone for your help on this one.

I find that when a JW is told they are wrong about their faith, they will automatically defend their belief often with violent emotions, no matter how weak the point. Put the responsibility on your wife to prove it to you, instead of disproving you. There is a difference.
Ekeziel,
You are so right. I've experienced this firsthand.
A few years ago when I was still hard-core dub, my husband asked me a question at dinner. The question was this:
"If Jesus has been RULING since 1914 does that mean that there are only 902 years left of his THOUSAND YEAR REIGN?"
This question touched touched me deeply. I slammed my dish and walked away. But the more I thought about the more sense it made.
This question was the first of many penetrating arrows that eventually cracked my JW armour. When the hot potato was thrown in my lap, I had to deal with it.
It was the best thing hubby could have done for me.

You're inactive, good for you. They probably have left you alone then after 6 years. I would say not to stir the pot.
If she shows your doubts to the elders , the elders will start hounding you. Who knows they might even find grounds to disfellowship you.

we certainly want to avoid having publishers expressing personal viewpoints that may not be in line with the Bible principles that really govern each Christian?s conduct and the united efforts of the brotherhood to carry out Jehovah?s will.
They really think highly of the regular joe blow published don't they?

Vigil for my daughter, please.
by outnfree inas mentioned in my other thread, my daughter lena is having brainsurgery on monday, jan 24. the surgery will last 6-7 hours, so i'm hoping the board members will be willing to make a special effort tomorrow to send positive thoughts, healing energy, good wishes and prayers her way.
we are asking that the surgeon's hands be delicate and skillful and that lena does not bleed overmuch and that brain damage be minimal (if not non-existant).
surgery begins at 8 am eastern standard time (us), but we have to have her to the hospital by 6 am, so this is "good night!

For me it was the family study. I dreaded it.
For a while we studied the "all scripture inspired".
My father was very proud the I could explain the "deep" things in that book.
I was only 10
