My father in law often tells me that things were quite different in the 50's and 60's. There wasn't the strangle-hold(?) we see today. They had the freedom to have bible discussions and do things a little more liberally. The rank and file were genuinely happy.

When did it all go wrong for the WTS? I say 1980's.....
by jambon1 inafter speaking to an elderly jw a few weeks ago, it occured to me that the wts genuinely experienced good times in the 50's and 60's, perhaps the 1970's.
it seemed a good place to be.
people seemed more relaxed.

Funny, I pioneered for close to 2 decades and for the life of me cant remember anything meaninful that the "circuit overlord" had to say.
The only thing that comes to mind is one particular time, where no one got their time for the year. The whole group of pioneers really got a verbal lashing from the circuit chief. He scolded the group for working too many days and that we needed to accomplish the ministry fully and spent no more than 2 days in secular work. What an ass

don`t push too hard..Little bits at a time,get the job done...OUTLAW
good suggestion
This is how I find myself out. Hubby always asked questions. Sometimes those questions created quite a bit of fuss between us. Many times I would storm out of the room, mad as hell. But what he said always swirled around my head and eventually I started to question on my own.

Dec KM indicates extreme paranoia over booking hotels NOT on the list
by truthseeker inover the years, the society has included half a page in their annual guidelines when planning for and attending the district convention.. in particular, they have been very insistent that only hotels on the recommended lodging list be used.. .
the language in this month's km is even more insistent than last years.. .
here is the text in full, with the original emphasis.. .

i never heard any such thing or saw any action taken about people going "out" for their refreshments or food.
Well, come to soutwestern ontario, Canada and this is exactly what is done. For the last few years a few months before the Kitchner district convention a letter is read telling the r&f NOT to go out to get their lunch and if they do go out to put it in a generic bag. Apparently the stadium vendors have been raising a fuss because of the business they are losing by being closed during the JW conventions. wanna

by depressed injust wondering if anyone else feels the same way.. i've been out of the organization for about 4 years, but i still love jehovah and jesus, and i want to serve them the right way.
does anyone here feel a great sense of religious confusion now that you are not attending meetings?.
at the moment, i feel miserable, since i'm going through a divorce.

Hi Depressed,
Remember this: there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. This will pass for you and at some point you will regain a measure of happiness.
Give your self some time. If you can afford it, find yourself a good therapist that will be able to help you sort out your feelings.
When it comes to spiritual hunger, many of us have it. I feel spiritually starved myself at times. I find it a great source of comfort when I try to be attuned to God by prayer and meditation and taking a little time to read the gospels.
I wish you all the best and hope that the good wishes you receive from members of this board can comfort you.
regards

Ps . Please realize most opinions in here are Apostate opinions of people who didnt recover , or worse ....fornicators , adulterers , themselves ( 1 Cor 6 :9, 10 ) And It would a shame to mix with them either in there ideas or pursuites , for the results would be as negative as their ideas
Agent 7
Nothing gets me angrier that an self-righteous ipocrite. I am sorry to say that is what you are.
Most here are not fornicators or adulterers and are not a negative influence.
This place as been a sanctuary for a lot of people. The knowledge and experience of some here is staggering.
If you put aside you self-righteous pomp, you might learn a thing or two yourself.
