  young, study-minded and apostate.. anyone else?

  i grew up in the wt, did my utmost to research all, saw the light of course - everyone else of my family still in.. i'm 18.. anyone else of around that age who found out by doing research?

  wannaaxit: No, I haven't DA'd. I'm trying to fade away as fast as possible... Please help me understand why one would want to DA? To me it seems you're playing the rules by the org's game then.. you end up losing your family.. so they still have indirect power over your life.. or am I wrong here? How about you?

  I don't know why some feel they need to DA themselves. My husband and I are planning a slow fade. I asked if you DA yourself because in my area, a young man (18-20) disassociated himself from the cong. Of course everyone knew this to be the case because the very next week the local needs part was about apostasy.

  i got a pm from gumby this morning.

  as i predicted, he's being love-bombed by the congregation and invited out everywhere.

  part of this is because he was very popular before and is a very likeable guy, but part of it is to try and suck him back in so thoroughly, he'll never be able to escape.

  hello everyone.. i don't if this has been posted before.

  if it has i apologize, but maybe my version will add to what is already known.. my brother is a district overseer.

  the society sometimes places conferences calls to do's, co's and other overseers, especially when it is something that they do not want to put in writing.

  Oh they are afraid that books are being stolen from the hall. Now I get why in this area they are doing away with the libraries at the back of the halls.

  "My Christian Quest", by Ron Frye -----I just finished reading. GOOD!!!

  i just finished reading "my christian quest, from jehovah's witness to son of god", by ron frye.

  this is easily one of the best new books i've read in a while.

  ron was a pioneer, a special pioneer, and a circuit servant.

  i've been posting here for quite a long time, so long in fact that it just doesn't feel right that my wife isn't a part of it.

  earlier today i created an account for her with the username heron, she'll know why.

  i'm not sure if my wife will ever post here but i would feel much more comfortable knowing she is aware that i do.. this is the one post i am going to ask her to read.. so, i'd really appreciate it if you could say hello to my lovely wife.

  Welcome Heron,

  I hope that you will post. Maybe you feel a little guilty to post here. I know I was for a long time. I felt I was being disloyal to all my family and friends that are very loyal to the organization.

  This is a good place. I've learned so much here. You will too.

  First Piano Lesson Tomorrow!! Need a littel advice.

  for most of my life i've wanted to learn to play the piano and learn to write music.

  my wife got me a yamaha keyboard for christmas.

  i am finally happy to report that i have my first lesson tomorrow morning.

  My kids take piano and they practice 30 min everyday. Their teacher wants them to practice for 45 minutes.

  Music is like learning a new language. The more you immerse yourself in it the better you will be at it. With music its all about the practice. Practice really does make perfect.

  i decided to take the advice of some of you here when i wrote about my situation.. i am married, but my wife is a die hard witness.

  despite me showing her mountains of evidence and her actually accepting it, she is regressing back into jw think.. this has happened since i stopped mentioning anything anti-jw.. now she thinks that my problems with jw's were just a phase because i am not bringing up the issue anymore.. i really want to leave this religion, but i can't do that without losing her.. many here i know are trapped and some are still serving as elders.

  i don't know how you do it, but i guess routine is routine.

  Sorry, I take offence to this.

  Give your wife time.

  If it is any consolation. I was such a loyal dub. Everything was by the book. And yet after years I was able to see the light.

  My husband knew years in advance but he picked away, pointing this out and pointing that out. Chipping away a little at a time. Planting little seeds. Eventually the brain starts working again and I started to see clearly for myself.

  If you really love her don't give up.

  I know how hard it was for my husband. I am so grateful that he didn't quickly throw our marriage out the window but had the patience to wait until I saw too.

  When did it all go wrong for the WTS? I say 1980's.....

  after speaking to an elderly jw a few weeks ago, it occured to me that the wts genuinely experienced good times in the 50's and 60's, perhaps the 1970's.

  it seemed a good place to be.

  people seemed more relaxed.

  My father in law often tells me that things were quite different in the 50's and 60's. There wasn't the strangle-hold(?) we see today. They had the freedom to have bible discussions and do things a little more liberally. The rank and file were genuinely happy.
