Active Elders who post on JWD
by Honesty indoes your conscience torment you knowing that you are misleading the flock of god as you continue teaching them the heresies of the watchtower society?.
why are you staying in the organization and posting here at the same time?.
do you really believe that you can help your families to reject the watchtower society while remaining an elder and visibly appearing to support their lies and false teachings?.

Does the end justify the means? I don't know. But I don't feel that this is a moral dilemma. What we are speaking of is, after all, just a cult. A man made religion. Why do they deserve my respect? Right now, they do not "need to know" my true feelings. I will reveal those to them when I am ready.
Well said Gary1914.
I applaud you for what you are doing. I know that it takes a great deal of intestinal fortitude to put up with the BS.
Others should not judge. Those of you able to get out and put it behind you, good for you. But not everyone can do that.
I will be forever indebted to my husband for putting up with the crap for my sake. I am grateful that he didin't stop cold turkey when he started to find out things. Our marriage would have ended for sure because I had sold my soul to the watchtower.
Do we want to stay for ever? Of course not. But in the meantime some of us do what we hav to do.

What's your name for 'Watchtower Speak'?
by sweet pea inhaving put some distance in between us and the wts, i can't read any of the society's publications without feeling extremely uncomfortable and irritated by the tone and language that the society uses.
it all sounds the same - patronising, guilt-inducing, condescending, intellectually unchallenging, etc.
as far as i'm aware the term is 'watchtower speak'.

Reasoning with spouses using the 09/07 KM article
by sir82 ini am still working on my wife, some progress is being made, but it is slow going.. here is how i plan to reason with her regarding the 9/07 km article on "non-endorsed" methods of study.
feel free to use or adapt yourself, if you are in a similar situation.. .
suppose that one day a stranger calls the house when i am not at home.

What I have seen in my experience (and from listening to the experience of others) is that bringing up issues that call the Watchtower into question directly are a big no no. Instead you want to try back door conversations
There certainly is a lot of truth to this. I recall one occasion when my husband said to me: "Just think honey, Jesus has been in power since 1914. That means that there are only 900 years left to his reign".
I thought about this for a long time. I reasoned "if Jesus started ruling in 1914 hubby is right there are only 900 years left. Why doesn't the society realize this". I believe these "back door" conservations really are more effective.
It takes careful cajoling to help someone out. Bringing up an issue to a solid JW may be too confrontational.

How many have wives who think it's the truth?
by drew sagan inthe idea for this thread was sparked by seeing that a lot of guys thought that the latest km article would be a great talking point.
there are a number of jwd poster who have lived through the hell of having a wife who thinks it is the truth.
i am happy to say that i have been through it and survived.

I am a wife that thought JW had the "Truth". Hubby knew roughly ten years before I finally got it.
He never gave up on me. In 2002 I finally started to "see" for myself.
I believe that even the most hard-core JW has some inner doubts. I know I did, but I shoved them aside. I would always blame myself for not understanding better.
Reading Ray Franz's books really helped me out.

30 minute Sunday talks??
by still_in74 inok maybe somebody else can validate this for me as it has been "officially" announced yet, or at least not in my kh.
apparently also starting in the new year along with public/private watchtowers the sunday public talk will be reduced to 30 minutes from the current 45 minutes while not lengthening the wt study.
i hear the reasoning is to give the "brothers" more time to associate after the meeting.

Has anyone else heard about this yet? I heard it was being announced this week
Yes it was announced this week. The interesting fact is the elimination of any negative comments in the introduction.

Anyone Else from Canada?
by Miss 8572 ini'm really intrigued by that fact that i may know some of you and yet not know that i know you.
i just want to know how many people from canada are here.
if you don't mind and don't care about posting your province (cause i'm too timid to) we could all get an idea of just how many canucks are really out there.

I believe Clive Thomas resides at the Canadian Bethel. Heard him a few years ago as the bethel rep at the district convention.
