I heard that there is an elder in each congregation that follows very closely what is being said from stage to make sure everything is being said correctly. In all my years as a jw , I don't ever remember this at the local level. Is this something new??

AGM is not streamed live, but a download.
by SyntaxError1974 inthere have been several posts where individuals are asking if it is possible to hack into and watch the agm as it is streamed to the conventions.
i say it is not streamed live like many are assuming, but a recorded download played for the audience.. why?
a live stream has many possible points of failure.

It's 7:00 am October 5 in my parts. Jw were instructed to be at the assembly hall by 7:45 so that they can watch the streaming of people in the Jersey City large assembly hall.

Donations aren't coming in from Western Countries: more confirmation
by Julia Orwell inin talking to sparky the elder today (http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/jw/friends/263862/1/an-elder-called-me-hes-waking-up-and-knew-id-understand-nice-for-him-to-have-a-friend) i found out he did the accounts for our congregation for years.
he said very rarely did the congregation meet its expenses without some well-off brother chipping in a few grand here and there.
the elders would also make up the shortfall.

Growing up i always remember my elder father stepping up to the plate and making up the financial deficit of the congregation. For the most part in the western world the bulk of the donations come fron a few.
In my area congregations are supported by the 65+ jws who open up their wallets a little too generously. Once this generation dies off, things are going to get tougher. The younger generation just doesn't it have it to give.
As to getting contributions from people at the door, it isn't happening. NO one that I know asks for contributions. It's never mentioned at the meetings and it hasn't been encouraged in the last 5-6 years. Even if someone from the territory does contribute , it usually a pittance.
Thanks Julia for bringing this up.

The christian school for married couples
by wannaexit inthe new in thing among the rank and file is to strive to get to the christian school for married couple.
this appears to substitute the school of gilead.
it's a 2 month long event and after graduation , couples are sent somewhere where the need is great in their own country.

The new in thing among the rank and file is to strive to get to the christian school for married couple. This appears to substitute the school of Gilead. It's a 2 month long event and after graduation , couples are sent somewhere where the need is great in their own country. They are classified as special pioneers which means they will be pounding the doors for 130 hours a month. Unless one is over 40 then they get a break and have to pound doors for 120 hours a month.
They'll be getting a small stipend but only for one year. After that they are on their own. They give you a swift kick in the pants and leave you to fend for yourself. Isn't Jehovah's organization loving :(

Funny, over the weekend, I was sitting at the one day assembly and thinking : is there no one among these 800 + people that have figured things out. While reading this thread and reading how many new ones have joined, made me realize that among those 800 + there may have been someone who has figured things out too. I don't comment much, but read mostly every day. I want to welcome all the newbies and wish you all the best on the next chapters of your lives without the watchtower appendage.

An Elder Reads CoC !!
by TTATTelder ini have recently joined the site.
i was just appointed an elder this summer.
i started discovering the ttatt (the truth about the truth) last year after putting a few things together myself concerning the leadership and then doing some research online.. i really enjoyed jwfacts.com, jwsurvey, and others.

I completely missed this thread. I'm glad I found it this morning. I am also glad TTATTelder that your "awakening" has begun. So much for holy spirit behind appointments. What a farce ! Ray's books were also instrumental for me. I hope that you will also read In Search of Christian Freedom. As others have pointed out, take it easy with your family and I also am of the opinion that a slow fade is better than the "bull in the china" approach. It took me a lot longer than hubby to sort things out. All the best to you as you embark on this wonderful new journey.

Witnesses will always pull out the biggest butter knife when visitors show up. But most are just acting. The true colours come out after getting to know people.
