  Street Witnessing - did you ever do it?

  i remember in our congregation, there were a few older pioneer sisters who would start counting their time early - even before the service arrangement - by standing at a street corner and holding the magazines up in front of them and hoping that any passersby might stop to take one on their way to work or whatever.

  as a fresh, new dub, i had heard about this "street-witnessing" work, but there was only one time i ever actually saw one of these older sisters doing this.

  and even then i was shocked and embarrassed for her.... because this poor old sister was standing there, all by herself, holding up the watchtower & awake magazines, yet looking as sad and depressed as she could possibly ever look, her whole mouth was turned down just totally sad as she stood there, observing all the "dead" people walking around, hurrying to catch buses, get kids to school, get to work, etc.

  Yes! I did street witnessing regularly during my 20 years of pioneering . It was an easy way to plump up the hourly quota. We used to stand in a farmers market . There were generally a few good spots like the fresh flower area. Generally this area was taken by this pompous ass brother. I would end up standing close to the meat area. I can still feel nausea when I think back to the smells :( . I would start street work at 5 am and be at work for 9 am.

  " article says this:.

  "so even if we feel that we have been waiting a long time, this does not mean that the end is far away or that it is not coming in our lifetime.".

  i was thinking about green handshakes, and i knew my wife and i personally would try to slide at least $100 each c.o visit to the c.o.

  if we were low on cash, we'd never hand him less than $20.

  how many of such handshakes does he receive in a weeks time?

  A number of years ago, I read on this forum that in some of the more affluent areas CO could rake in close to $100.000. Not sure about the number.

  All I can say that I know of at least 10 publishers that give money every CO visit. Most give on average $50.00.

  I remember the summer assembly where they demonized social media. All kids went home and disabled their Facebook accounts. And Richard_I I can hear the old Ernie Funk still in my head. LOL
