  Candace achieved what she set out to do. She was a courageous young woman and I applaud her. I hope she got a good settlement.

  What percentage of the population are gay?

  during the long debate on the question of gay marriage, there have been many competing answers to the question of, "how many people are gay?".

  a very anti-gay christian minister in sydney, the reverend fred nile, (who is also a member of the state parliament) claims that the percentage is as low as 1%.. some university (u.of new south wales) research in sydney has suggested 5%, but the authors of the study cautioned that there was a problem in the fact that an unknown number of respondents would likely not admit to being gay.. there are other problems in asking the question.

  for example, what does being gay mean?

  I disfellowshipped my parents this week..

  i just wrote them a mail, telling them to not contact me any more under any circumstances, illness or death (79 and 83 years old).

  unless they leave the cult and would apologize for our f*'.ed-up upbringing which ruined our whole life.

  As Village Idiot says, its a bit harsh but none of us have walked in your shoes. I think that our parents worked with the skills they had at the time and at this late stage of their life, telling them to leave the cult would be hard to do. If your parents are like mine, their whole network of friends are jehovahs witnesses and its not that easy to cut all ties.

  But then you have to do what is good for you and what you think is right.

  its a little more distracting this year with all the videos. As some have said walk around, go have a nap in the car or download a book on your phone or ipad. It's a lot easier to tune the trash out these days.

  Governing Body

  hello,.

  i am currently in a discussion with a jw about the governing body.. i have read alot of articles regarding it, however whenever i bring up what i have read, i am refuted with scripture, such as acts 15, where they say there was a governing body, who sent out elders and men etc.. does anyone have a website that i may not know of, that has answers to what they refute with?

  or any help here or good thought provoking questions to respond with would be much appreciated.. thank you kindly.

  Are You "Technically" Still A Jehovah's Witness?

  even if you don't regard yourself as a practicing jw, some may view you simply as inactive, a lost sheep, etc.. if you were baptized but not disfellowshipped or disassociated, you may still be a jw---right?
