Who Is Jehovah?
by reporter inchristians should all honestly and thoroughly investigate the contradictions between the old and new testaments in terms of the descriptions of god.. .
the god of the new testament is described as a god of love, mercy and peace.. .
the god of the old testament is described as jealous, vengeful god, a war-monger.

I think the society will point out that these men are "former" witnesses, and spin it to their choosing no matter when they became so. If they left before they committed the crime, it will be "Jah kept his organization clean" if they left after it will be "Jehovah is cleaning out his org". No matter, they will try to make themselves look good that two people such as these are no longer members.
Peacelily, much love and strength to you, you did the right thing when you left.

I wonder when someone will win a lawsuit, and what effect that will have on the other victims? And what effect that will have on the rank and file? Will they be told it is Satan at work, trying to destroy Jehovah's organization? Will they have to turn the channel if a news story comes on about it, since it shows Jah's people in a negative light? WILL THEY EVER WAKE THE F*** UP?
OOOPPS, sorry, my resolution was not to have any bitterness in 2003.
Will they ever see the "truth"?

Which Watchtower teachings lack logic?
by sleepy inwhich watchtower teachings lack logic?.
i know you're all tempted to say all of them, but some beliefs if the facts were true, would be logical.. which ones that are supposed to be a logical consequence of a true fact are in fact not logical whether the fact is true or not?.
for an example of logical belief based on untrue or unprovable fact , if god created adam and all humans came from him,(supposed fact) he could pass on defects in his genes to all humans and we could all be "imperfect".this we could call logical.. a watchtower belief that lacks logic is for example jw's who go through armageddon or die and are ressurected to earth are not perfect but still have another test to go through, yet those who die and that go to heaven are perfect straight away and require no further testing.. so which teachings are based on beliefs that are not true and which ones are just not logical?

I actually have an issue with the whole creation theory as told in the Bible. God made the angels perfect, right? Then he made man, and man was perfect, right? So where did evil come in?? It's not "free will" as I have heard some people say, because you can't choose something you have no idea exists. So, why and how did Satan come into being? Once that is explained in a way that makes sense to me, let's talk about the whole "God was looking for Adam, and he hid". I'm sorry, did you say the omnipotent one could not find his lowly creature?? And why did this omnipotent one need to set a test for a perfect being anyway??? And why did God not know that Satan had turned evil, and immediately destroy him before he could do any wrong. HELP ME MY BRAIN IS GOING TO EXPLODE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maya Angelou once said "When a person shows you who they are, believe them". This guy has shown you REPEATEDLY who he is, it's time you believed him.
You deserve much better. An old cliche " I can do bad all by myself" comes to mind, which means better alone than with someone who brings you down.
I know it's hard, but learn from your experience and love yourself enough to move on.

Who needed Psychological help?
by JH in.
did you ever need psychological help when you were in the "truth", or maybe after you left?
would you say that people who come here on this site are in need of psychological help, since they can't seem to get over their bad experience as a jehovah witness?

I think for some people (including me) having this board is like therapy. Sometimes you need to communicate with someone who has been where you are, and unless you have been in a high control group like the dubs, it's hard to understand the lifelong strangle hold they can have. I have been out for over 10 years, and I am amazed that I can still feel such bitterness. I don't think a higher incidence of ex-dubs needs any more professional therapy than general society.

Attending the "right" hall
by freedom96 inthere always seemed to be such a big stink about making sure you went to the hall that you were assigned to.
whatever territory that you lived in, that would be the hall assignment, whether you liked it or not.. if you chose not to go to your assigned hall, boy was there ever flack.
you could get severely counciled for it.. just seems to be another stupid rule that they would get upset about.

Actually, sometimes they let you slide, depending on the "needs" of the congregation you go to. My sister and her husband are way out of their territory, and always have been, but apparently the congregation they attend "needs" elders, so they are allowed to stay. And I remember, if your job conflicted with meeting times for your assigned congregation, it was acceptable to attend a congregation that met at better hours.

I have to disagree with some of the names submitted. Prince was never baptized, and never actually declared himself a dub. He did study with Larry Graham, as did Chaka Khan. Also, the Williams sisters, from what I hear, may call themselves witnesses, but they don't go to meetings on a regular basis, nor do they go out in service. I have actually been curious as to what the WTS says about these people, since back when I was "in" you could not play competitive sports (I don't remember which scripture this was based on), and have any congregational privileges or be in good standing in the congregation. I know Larry Graham personally, and he is definitely dedicated, as is Wilton Felder (from the Crusaders or the Jazz Crusaders). Also, Philip Ingram (from a very old group called "Switch") who is James Ingram's brother.

The irony of it all
by sleepy in.
over the past few months i've found it hard not to feel anger and bitterness at wasting my youth on the watchtower , all the things i didn't do that i wanted to and will never be able to, at least not in the same way.. learning my father is dying of cancer has not helped, i feel his life was wasted in the truth, he was only tring to do what he thought was right.i think of my parents as a young couple just married in 1972, and reciveing a call from two young witnesses of a similar age.they must have believed they had found something special that they could give to their children.. sometimes i wish these things had not happened.. and yet would my life had been better if they hadn't?.
would my parents still have been together after 30 years, what would my childhood have been like if my dad had not learned to control his temper?being a natural rebelious idividual how would i have turned out, knowing how most of my friends from school turned out?would i have developed the qualities that i now value without by upbringing?not worring about being different anymore?would the paths i could have gone down been any better?i would certainly have not met my wife, and the experiences i have enjoyed as a result,my desire to now push myself and accomplish something great in my life may not have developed so strongly, the desire that may possible move me to success.. the irony is that being brough up a witness has shaped my personallity, determined the people i have met and those i have avoided, maybe my life would not have been so could if those witnesses had never called on my parents.

It is ironic that some of the traits I consider to be my best likely come from being raised a witness. I look at my husband, whose mom raised him as a baptist, and can't believe the hypocritical life she lived. She went to church, sang in the choir, and yet had affairs with married men (affairs that she did not even TRY to hide from her son), lied, and did just a bunch of things I can't believe someone who calls themselves a Christian would do. My mom, on the other hand, stuck to her beliefs even when it made life more difficult for her. That made me appreciate how important it is to be true to what you say you believe in, no matter what "religion" it is. I regret that being in that religion kept me from pursuing higher education, but like Sleepy, I admit I can't say for certain that I would have pursued it if that obstacle had not been in place. The fact is, what's done is done, and now I just focus on being the best I can be with as few regrets as possible.

i was curious about others, though, and started looking at a lot of profiles.
i noticed many, if not most, of the members have elected to leave off most personal identifying information.

I was curious about others, though, and started looking at a lot of profiles. I noticed many, if not most, of the members have elected to leave off most personal identifying information. Is it just because of internet safety, or are there other reasons? If you have elected not to give personal info, can you tell me why? Just curiousity (and I'm a person, not a cat, so don't even go there).
