i finally decided after being here for over two years now, that i would finally get down in writing my jw history.
i've posted it in my new profile, but since there are so many new people here i thought i'd go ahead and post it too.
i do this to encourage you to pen your jw history.
Andi,
Thank you for sharing your moving story. It's so wonderful to know you were able to move on, and have a good life instead of wallowing in your pain. I just know that you will continue to realize your dreams and enjoy your life.
Take care,

this is probaly one of my biggest problems i dealt with growing up in the jw crap.. it's no fun growing up alone.. i am sorry, but i hated my parents (probaly from the time i was 13), i know that is mean and a terrible thing to say, but that's how i felt.
i had no respect for them growing up in the borg.
they taught me nothing about ................. having a relationship/dating.
While I ponder the ability of my very intelligent mother to swallow unquestionably every piece of drivel the WTS puts out, in all other ways she is superior. She taught me from a very young age to be responsible, both morally and financially, and helped me learn about making my own way in the world. When I decided to move out, she never tried to stop me, only tried to convince me to wait long enough to save money to buy instead of rent. I didn't listen, but she was right. I feel and felt that I was not encouraged to pursue secular education, but she says she would have been fine if I went to college, and she regrets that I did not.
Overall, I was blessed with an outstanding mom, and I wouldn't trade her for the world.
My dad (may he rest in peace) is another story, and his failings have nothing to do with the JWs, as he never really practiced.

before you go thinking that this is a 'minimus'-type thread, the title i have chosen is the title from the august 15, 2003 watchtower.. the photos on the cover are of a young man (22ish).
in the lower-left corner he is a basketball player.
so, how does the wts want you to be remembered?
Funch,
Yes, the title is misleading, I hope people don't bypass it thinking it's something else.
Thank you for writing this, it's interesting to see how the double think continues to abound within the WTS. I am still astounded that I once bought into this, and flabbergasted that my otherwise intelligent family STILL buy into it.

i just had to pass this on to you.. it is an e mail that is making the rounds.. what do you think of this.... (beware!
gagging may be expected).

i tried to connect my laptop to my motel phones as much as possible while travelling, but i only got to browse the board a couple of times when doing so.
i know that within a week or two a lot can happen on this board, so i'm wondering what news i've missed out on.
fill me in please!
Well, the thing with Simon was bad, but I thought the whole police and FBI issue was much worse. I mean, the subterfuge, surveilance, etc, and then the ..... the .............
No, I can't go on! Stinky, I am so happy that you weren't here for it.

lol at Brummie and XJW
Too bad it wasn't something either more interesting, or completely unidentifiable. It would have been a lot more fun to speculate.

SANTIAGO, Chile, (Reuters) -- Chilean scientists said on Friday their study of a huge blob of flesh found on a Pacific beach about three weeks ago concluded it was the carcass of a sperm whale, ending speculation of a giant octopus.
Scientists have been baffled by the 40-foot-long (12-meter) mass of gelatinous tissue found on a remote beach in southern Chile, with initial hunches ranging from whale blubber to a disputed species of giant octopus.
Researchers at the Museum of Natural History in Santiago were the first to reach a conclusion after analyzing samples of the decaying specimen and finding glands of a sperm whale.
"It has not been necessary to do DNA analysis in order to obtain identification. It was enough to find the dermal glands that belong only to this group," the scientists Sergio Letelier and Jose Yanez said in a statement.
The sperm whale, made famous by Herman Melville's Moby Dick, is the largest of the toothed whales and dives deeper than any other whale. The males measure up to 65 feet (20 meters) in length and weigh about 50 tons.
When a sperm whale dies at sea, it rots until it becomes a "skeleton suspended in a semi-liquid mass within a bag of skin and blubber," the scientists said. Eventually, the skin tears and the bones sink while the skin and blubber float.
"This washes up and has the appearance of an octopus because the spermaceti organ keeps its bulky shape," they added.
The spermaceti is a large bulbous organ that forms a sort of forehead and contains a milky wax which early whalers likened to sperm fluid.
