  Some Questions; Civil Answers Please

  i am questioning whether the internet is a good place to hang out.

  last month i was scammed by an impostor who took advantage of me while i was depressed and vulnerable.

  even this discussion board has become very vicious lately.

  Tammy,

  Big hug to you. It's hard to deal with some of the hurtful things that are sometimes said on this forum, but it's really the exact same thing as real life. I have been here less than a year, but already, I know to stay away from certain threads. Just like I don't converse beyond necessary with certain people at my job, I don't read threads on particular subjects, or even threads started by certain posters. It's fine, we all get to make those choices. I agree with what a few others have said, if you need a break, please take it. I really hope you don't stay away forever, I enjoy your viewpoint, and feel you sometimes bring a calming influence to a volatile situation.

  I would like advice from the women on this forum

  i don't believe i've ever started a topic here before.. ladies, ever wanted to play "matchmaker" or "advice for the lovelorn"?

  well, i've got a situation that has me going in circles.

  it's something i'm also talking about with the realtime women friends in my life, and they've been just great, but there is also huge resource of fabulous women here on jwd that will know about that other intangible aspect of our x-jw involvement and how it affects people, relationships and families, that the women i know will never quite grasp.. it is not, however, something i choose to discuss here.

  Tale - not to speak for him, but he's probably scared to respond at this point. Can't say I blame him all that much, but he did say he was going to respond, so give him some time.

  Teejay - You and I speak the same language a lot. My son gets a lot of attention, and people always want to touch him, and it gets my back up. I keep wanting to tell them to leave him alone, but I don't want to make him paranoid. I don't know where to draw the line just yet, I simply don't want strangers touching my child. Sad, isn't it?

  as we entered a door of the administration building we did not head to the elevator to take us up the eight floors to the main administration floor.

  Can Men & Women Just be Friends?

  I have had platonic friends my whole life, slept platonically with several of them, and lived with a guy for 6 weeks with no physical contact.

  Can I say it never crossed their minds to take things in a different direction? No. But, I can honestly say, none of them ever tried it, joked about it, or insinuated it would be nice.

  I love my friends!!

  Just Get Over It?

  in the last couple of days ive been reading info on the un & wts ...so have been pretty absorbed with the amount of info out there on the wts...

  anyway...it hasnt been that long since i left the wts...and a close friend of mine (never a witness) said to me ,twice now, and rather strongly again today...

  "its over, you have left, get over it...your obsessed with this, who cares, just get over it before it drives you mad...its really pathetic"

  Lady Lee hit it on the head as usual. Coming out of a cult and recovering is a process that can take years. Anyone who hasn't been in one may find it hard to understand. However, a true friend should have been just a bit more understanding, and not spoken in such a harsh manner. You might want to tell your friend Lady Lee's comparison, and see if that will help them better understand where you are coming from.

  You don't have to worry about talking about it too much here, we're all eager to discuss all the time.

  Eric,

  That was a great apology, and I for one don't think you have ulterior motives. You were quick to understand why some women expressed concern, and that was really gentlemanly of you. Plus, I loved your response on the romance thread

  How many ways can a man romance a woman??

  he is having a hard time with the romance deptartment.

  i gave him a few ideas of my own but i thought if i threw the question out there maybe i could get him some views on how to romance a woman..... thanks for any sugggestions.

  What is The Zaniest Thing You've Ever Done?

  my most zany thing was back in 1970 when i lived in maryland....i was working for the pr.

  geo.

  and also had a part time job in the evening working for giant food in their payroll/personnel dept.....one evening, my boss at giant food in hyattsville, phoned me and told me that a coworker of his was going to come down to the office and that if i would provide him with transportation to where they were meeting, i could have the rest of the evening off and he would write in my time as though i'd worked the whole evening as usual....great!

  I was a passenger in my girlfriend's car. She liked to drive really fast. While on the freeway (expressway, highway, whatever you call it where you are), we started flirting with a guy driving a hostess truck. He stuck a business card and cupcake out of his window, and I leaned out the passenger window and grabbed it. Now remember, he's in a truck, so I was sitting on the window, leaning out. We were doing approximately 50 miles an hour at the time.

  It was fun, but looking back, I was a total idiot!!! And no, neither one of us ever called him.

  Confusing Good Sex as Love

  then, if conditions are right and i am particulary attracted to a man, i will bed him.

  This ties in with the whole Indecent Proposal thing (at least in a way). I can separate sex and love, and when I was single, I had a couple of bed buddies where the understanding was made at the beginning that it was just for fun, nothing serious. This was something so different from the JW mindset, that it took me a while to get over the guilt, BUT I DID!!

  As long as it's open and honest, there is nothing wrong with good (safe) sex.
