  A question of culture

  last year my girl's daughter was in 3rd grade.

  we lived in cupertino, ca.

  this area has a lot of newly immigrated families from (mainly) the middle east, asia, and mexico.

  My mom has been a teacher for over 30 years, so I don't think ALL teachers are idiots ( and I don't think my message read that way). However, there are many teachers that are, and I have personally met a lot of them at my mom's various schools. My initial instincts in speaking to anyone are to be peaceful, polite, and tactful. However, when it comes to my child, I am afraid I am quick to "pull the trigger" when someone is potentially harming him (mentally or physically). I have had family members also have bad experiences with the bad type of teacher (one of my cousins was taped to a chair with her mouth taped shut. The teacher's explanation was that "black kids talk too much".) I can't say I would have been able to control myself if someone did that to my child. My cousin kept his cool, more respect to him, but I am not sure I could have. I realize that this type of thing doesn't happen often, but it does happen more often that you might think.

  I hope and pray that my son will always be exposed to good teachers, but the statistics are against him.

  That's The Good Stuff...

  everyone has a very emotional and special moment in their life that they will always remember.

  for me, it was when i held my son in my arms for the first time, looked into his beautiful brown eyes, and fell in love for the rest of my life.

  that's the "good stuff.

  Definitely the first time I laid eyes on my son. Also, the first time he gave me a real honest to goodness smile. His entire little face just lit up. Now it's when he says he loves me, and I'm a good mommy. I think my heart is just going to burst.

  This is what worries me about my son starting school. Some idiotic teacher saying something stupid and possibly damaging his psyche. Me going to the school and beating down said teacher.

  You were 100% correct, and I sincerely hope you never lose the power of your convictions. Good for you!!

  well, after four elder meetings at 2 hours a pop, they sill want to get together with me.

  the last meeting i told them to give me scriptural backing that disproves that the 70 years ended when babylon fell as spoken of at jer 25: 10,11. i also asked for scriptures to prove why they insist on 607 rather than 587 as the fall of jerusalem.

  they said they would do that and get back to me.

  I have to agree with Rocketman, I think they are trying to manuever you into a situation where they will find "cause" to disfellowship you. I think such action would be terribly detrimental to your wife's well being, but since when is that their priority? I would do all I could to avoid meeting with them.

  some here may have noticed that recently teejay and i got into it a little bit on a thread i started about the locking of threads.

  about two years ago teejay and i got into it a few times in other threads.

  as much as i thought teejay was an intelligent guy and i have always gotten a kick out of his sarcastic sense of humor i still thought he loved to stir things up and take a few unnecessary jabs at people simply for the sake of jabbing them and causing trouble.. teejay called me tonight.

  Actually I was until I found out it was all in Latin. I may be low class for saying this, but movies with subtitles just kinda bug me. I go to movies for mindless entertainment, not for deep meaningful stuff.

  I think if you change "feeding off my anger" to "letting my anger motivate me to do good" it will more accurately reflect what you feel.

  Forgiving & Forgetting

  There are so many sides to this story, I don't believe there can ever be just one answer. I have also personally experienced situations where I forgave someone for doing something I never thought I would forgive (like being unfaithful).

  Perhaps some people can really forget, I don't. I decide if I am going to forgive (based upon the offenders actions after the offense), and then if I do, I NEVER BRING IT UP. That's very different from forgetting. I doubt I could really forget, not if it was something that really caused me pain. But, if I tell someone I forgive them, they can rest assured I will never bring it up, or treat them any differently than before.

  As for little things, I let them go very easily. I have been through too many real problems in my life to worry about little ticky tack crap. You have to A) be someone close to me and B) do something really bad to need my forgiveness. Otherwise, I overlook the normal quirks of being human, just as I hope my friends do for me.

  I do think, however, that forgiveness depends on the person asking for it. I don't see how I can forgive if I am never asked to.

  JWs - What Proves That They're a Cult

  i think one major point that proves that the jw's are a cult is that you can't leave without being stigmatized.

  all you have to do for other religions is take your name of the membership log or just resign.

  for jw's you can't leave unless you're df'd or da'd.

  I'm feeling you big time!!!!

  The lucky ones who are able to "fade" without being DA'd or DF'd still suffer, because we know any day the light could become brighter the WTS could change their rules once again, and forbid association with "inactive" ones. There are people I grew up with who now will barely speak to me (and againl, I'M NOT DA'D OR DF'D).

  Hate mongering, hypocritical, pedophile loving, false prophesying, murdering sons of bitches .......................

  I used to go the same hall as one person, but we were in different age groups. That's all I know for sure. If I weren't undercover, I would say which cong I came from, and maybe I would find more. I wish I could, it would be nice to see if any of my "friends" had escaped.
