Were You Ever a Member of the Secret Police?

a lot of experiences have been written about elders spying on people, tailing them in cars, etc.

i think this may have once happened to me, but am not sure if my intuition was correct or if my mind was just playing tricks.

i sometimes have some paranoia as a result of the trauma of being in the jws, so i am not sure what to believe.

I wasn't a member of the "secret police", but I know this was done to my brother and sister. They were running track in high school (and doing a great job), and word got out. An elder said he "happened to drive by" and see them at practice. This was an absurd and obvious lie, because the way the school was built, you absolutely COULD NOT see the track from the street. You had to be on the school grounds to see the track, much less identify the runners. So, either he was spying on them, or he was listening to gossip and lied about how he found out. I don't know if a large group of people would be involved, unless you were suspected of apostasy and trying to form your own group, but I certainly believe it is possible one or two people were spying on you.

i'm 17. i was disfellowshipped almost two years ago.

i am the youngest of four kids and am the only left at home.

i live with my dad who has sort of faded from the jw scene.

Welcome to the board, Meth, and may the people here bring you comfort. I agree with some of the other statements, and I hope someday it wil not hurt so much to understand that "family" is not always about blood. Your family are the people who love you, support you, and believe in you. Don't stop showing love to your "family" members that are still brainwashed, but understand that it is their choice not to show love to you. Trust me, though, when I tell you you can and will find love outside, and it will bring you joy. Much love.

Do You Think You'll See Your Dead Loved Ones Again

do you think that you will see your dear loved ones come back to life in a ressurection of some sort or do you think there is no hope of such a thing?

I hope there is some form of communication and contact, whether I can think of it as "heaven or hell" is no matter. I don't believe our spirits die, and I certainly hope that I am right as that thought is the only thing that kept me from killing myself when I lost my beautiful baby girl. I would also like to see my dad, grandmother, and many other friends and relatives. No one can say for sure until their death, and if it gives people peace to hope or believe there is something more, I think that's a great thing.

I am glad that you pulled through such a terrible time in your life. Inspiration sometimes comes to me in the weirdest forms. I saw a movie called "Serafina" that detailed one young black African girl's life in apartheid South Africa. There was a song in the movie "Freedom is coming tomorrow" that really touched me. It made me realize that tomorrow can always bring something better, but you have to be here to experience it. Don't cheat yourself out of the beauty that could be tomorrow. (((((((Mim))))))

Come on! NOTHING is Going To Refrom the WT!

this whole "reform" nonsense is driving me up the wall.. nothing is going to "reform" the wtbts.

nobody is going to "reform" the wtbts.. crying out loud, be realistic about this.

we have a group of men who have at least some faith & belief that what they do is "divinely" approved, and they have 6 million suckers who follow.

I don't know if they will ever reform, but what about a group forming an offshoot, much like how the witnesses were formed to begin with? If the WTS keeps disfellowshipping those with any different viewpoints, eventually they will have to disfellowship large groups that are trying to reform (like the group that wants to change the blood doctrine). Perhaps those groups will then form their own religion, and it will be more accepting of different viewpoints. Maybe become something like a non-denominational group, with non of the stupid rules and threats. Actually, I might even visit a church like that from time to time, although I doubt I would ever "join" anything again.

If I showed this to my family, they would go on and on about how it is God's word, and how important it is to keep Jehovah's organization clean, but they think it's so terrible when Muslim countries kill their women for immoral bahaviour. This is great research, and thank you for taking so much time to print it, but now I'm going to be PISSED OFF ALL DAY!!!!!

don't you hate those radio commercials for automobile dealers that scream at you very loudly, and always say the have the cheapest deals in town.

i also hate it when the say that their prices start at invoice cost.....do they think all consumers are just total idiots..... .

I hate when a salesperson keeps using your name over and over to try to establish some sort of rapport. First, I know my freakin' name, idiot, you don't have to repeat it. Second, I usually don't give them permission to use my first name, so they are being overly familiar. And third, it's one of the oldest sales tricks in the book, dummy, everyone is wise to it!!

"About Schmidt" slow...

i just viewed this film.... "about schmidt" ... this movie is mildly entertaining....it moves very slow and seems to be unfocused completely at times....some times funny.... jack is jack, as always he is good, and kathy bates is ok, nude scene warning...kathies ass....i read reviews that see him as a oscar candidate for this film...that is certainly a stretch !!!!.

howard hessman is in it, and he is very good, but not a big role, i love him from the old cincinnati radio sitcom???.

i give it...3 stars out of five....

More woman than men

why is it that there are more woman than men in the organization?

in my congregation there was much more woman than men.

it was about 60-65% woman.

Almost every religion has more women than men. If you don't believe me, go to any church. I don't know if it's simple math, there are more women than men, or if it's because women's nature leads them to worship more than men. I just know this is not a dub thing, but a religious thing.

Who Could You Trust in the Congregation

how many people in your congregation could you really trust?

I thought I could trust a guy who had been my best friend since 6th grade, but I was wrong. He told his wife (who was not a fan of mine) and she repeated some portions of the conversation to my sister. I was able to get out of it by saying I had never spoken to her about anything, so she was basically gossiping about me, and I would not respond to it. There was a family that I could speak openly with, their brother had recently been disfellowshipped, which led their mother to disassociate herself because of the behaviour of the elders, and then the rest of the family just left. I was lucky that all this happened at about the same time that I was doing my fade, so I was not totally alone.
