Matrix Theory - Your input please
by Elsewhere inok... i have to admit that i have been obsessing over the movies the matrix... especially after the second one where some odd things happened.
agent smith was replicating in the matrix, neo was "feeling" and stopping the sentinels in the real world, agent smith copied himself into a human in zion.. now i normally don't obsess over movies... i usually just watch them once and then move on... no big deal.
but this time i have been trying to figure out all of the odd things about the matrix.. i wanted to throw my theories out for everyone to examine and see what you all think.... here goes... remember in the first movie when neo went to see the oracle?

NO OVERTIME PAY?!
by Shakita inpresident bush will not like the response he gets from the angry 8 million plus workers out there who will be receiving no overtime pay because of his twisted sense of economics.
look, i am no economics professor, but how smart do you have to be to realize that if you take away $$$ from families struggling to make ends meet....that they will stop buying the unessentials and going on vacations, etc.... in a nutshell, helping to boost the country out of the worst unemployment in ten years!
how government can reach their sticky hands into our pockets and get away with this is absolutely criminal!

Warrior, dear, it's not a red herring if the WTS wasn't really a member, and hadn't tried to deny it until it was made public.
Or, would you rather more focus be given on the harboring of pedophiles within the organisation?
Or, would you rather they explain why "brothers" in Mexico were allowed to bribe officials, while "brothers" in Malawi were told they had to withstand beatings and other atrocities to show their loyalty to Jah?
Or, would you rather explain why "new light" is constantly being used as an excuse to change previous incorrect predictions?
Or, would you rather explain why the rules change so much (i.e., organ transplants are cannibalism oooops, no they aren't)
Or, are you so blinded and misguided that no matter how much proof you are given you will refuse to face the reality that the WTS is a hypocritical, lying, blood guilty cult?

Buying out the opportune time
by RunningMan inall of my life, i was told by the society that i should buy out the opportune time.
to them, this phrase meant that i should cut down on watching tv or some other worthless activity, and of course, spend that newfound time worshipping the great publishing company.
well, since i stopped going to meetings on april 10, 2002, i have discovered an entirely new and far more enjoyable application for the admonition to buy out the opportune time.

The officer who punched the teen was NOT found innocent, the jury was hung 7 - 5 in favor of convicting him. The case will be retried.
Obviously there are different opinions of what is "reasonable force" "self defense" etc. What I have not been able to understand from any of the messages that appear to be in favor of this former officer's actions is, what if the guy lied?? The video's DO NOT show the teen grabbing his genitals, the former officer's story was NOT backed up by any of the other officers on the scene, and his department felt his actions were out of line enough to fire him. Given JUST THOSE FACTS, why are you still protesting in favor of the former officer?? If one or two of the other officers had testified that they saw the teen grab the former officer, then I would probably understand where you are coming from, but since they did not, I really don't get it.
And by the way, George Bush, when I suggested that the former officer walk away to calm down instead of body slamming and punching the teen, it was with the awareness that there were many other officers on the scene. You know, the same officers that grabbed the former officer and prevented him from assaulting the teen further??

Redneck - this was your statement "If ya resist arrest and ya get stomped on in the process..well ya knew it would probably happen..." which seems to ok police brutality against those resisting arrest (even if it's passive resistance).
The fact is there, IF the teen grabbed the officer, it would have been BEFORE he was slammed onto the car. That is definitely time for the officer to either calm down or walk away, and while I don't expect an officer to be super human, I certainly expect them to learn to contain their anger within a reasonable amount of time.
Yeru - I actually did see the other video on the news last night, and I did not see the "obvious" grabbing. I freely admit the video was blurry, and I only saw it once, so maybe I missed it. That does not negate the fact that no other officer has coroborated his story.
Another important fact that hasn't been mentioned so far is that the teen has a learning disability that makes it difficult for him to understand and follow instructions.
