i got an e-mail today from an old high school friend who, after we met for coffee, said "wow, you're normal again!
i mean, you were boring, stuffy, and generally not much fun when you became a jw.
now you're back to the old so-and-so that i remember, i love it!
Oh hell yeah Naru,
I am no longer a stuffy jumped up little prick of a JW. I am normal. I got on with a lot of people but ones that I knew outside the JW's all say how much I have changed and they feel they have the real matt back !
aylestone congreagation leicester ; what a place that was.. we were so starved for laughter we used to laugh at the slightest thing; you remember how witnesses are deprived of true humour so they must negotiate with anything they hear slightly funny ?
that was what it was like for us at aylestone.. it was like sitting in a morgue.
we lost a great elder;- fantastic laugh.
Where shall I start out of my few I was in:
Ok Chronologically:
Rochester, Kent, England - Boring and full of old cabbage smelling people 01/10
Medway-Walderslade, Kent, England - Full of people with an image to uphold 01/10
Medway-Lordswood, Kent, England - Slightly better more friendly 02/10
East Jordan, MI, USA - mmm self righteous and no life 02/10
Ashford South, Kent, England - Dont think they even noticed I had joined -1/10
i was standing on my front porch talking on my cell phone when three car loads of them pulled up down the street.
by the time i finished my conversation, one of the jws was standing on my sidewalk waiting for me to get off the phone.
i eventually did.
Well done Francois, I am just waiting for my opporunity to do this ! I think it will be when we move now as they are too afraid to knock here !
the witnesses are all so pure!
ha ha.. seriously though: when you take all the witnesses from all over, how many really are pure and follow the rules perfectly?
how many are really sinning against the wts?
Biggest Sin has to be Sex, actually probably Masturbation followed by sex then shortly after that is smoking (you just gotta have a ciggy after sex aint ya) !
jwd, .
i've noticed on more than one occasion comments such as this one made in mattnoel's post this morning within the us/patriotism thread: its also very much the world of america, people dont go outside except to canada and mexico.
could it be that we are the only nation out of the long list of major western countries not to have legally mandated vacation days?
Did you know the percentage of US passport holders is only something like 15% Amazing isnt it.
I think it is for a number of reasons - 1 is that america has as I suggested before the world of america, everything you could want is there, for example if you live in Ny and want a beach holiday - you go to California, and so on. I think people think they got all they want and need there, its just a shame as here in the UK we have so much to offer.
2. The old nutshell of a ridiculous ammount of holiday you get - something like a week, we get so much more here in europe.
3. Airfares, it is so so much more cheaper for us to go anywhere, I can fly to NY for £180 ($240) yet it will cost the average American almost double. We can also get really cheap deals to europe or even fly to places in europe for pittance, there are hundreds of offers out there to go to Rome for £27 ($34).
This is why I think that you guys choose to just stay at home.
abaddon and i were having a discussion in another thread regarding the differences between us patriotism and european patriotism.
apparently some people consider the us to be peopled with rabid flag waving, my country right or wrong, ugly americans.
i am wondering what the general concensus of this board would be?.
Couldnt of said it better myself Brummie. Personally I like to fly the English and Welsh Flags which are my culture - please dont think that I am being anti american in my above comments, I do have an american flag too, I just wont be flying it outside my house on April 23rd. On Sept 11th however I will wear an american flag pin.
I have nothing against patriotism, I feel that this is needed, I guess it kinda makes me sick how unpatriotic England is, its only now when we are starting to see all the trouble with assylum seekers and the war etc that we are starting to fly our flags - about bl*ody time is what I say. We can and should be proud of our countries, we just need to learn the equilibrium.
What saddens me most, is there seems to be too much of these sort of threads and everyone seems to be getting more and more p*ssed at each other. Its so sad how things have become. I think something needs to be done. At the end of the day, we are who we are. One thing is we all have a major thing in common. Patriotism is clearly a sore point, so I think we should drop it and stop bringing it up.
i just left the "truth"a couple of months ago, did some sub-contracting work for a brother ( real self-righteous guy), just recieved a phone call from him saying he will no longer be needing my services.
nothing to do with my work he said, just the way it goes.
what a wonderful frickin brotherhood, those damn bastards!!!
Unfortunatly you dont see the "love" that they really have until you leave the witnesses. Hope you find work soon.
