i disagree. it depends on what you believe i guess, if you believe the bible is balony it will affect what you think about God, i personally accept the bible, and he tells us in the bible what He wants from us, and that He loves us and will listen if we need Him, but we are not Him so who can say exactly what He is like?

Hi Greven,
i completely understand your thinking, and it is very much like that. however, there is no evidence of an imaginary friend, but there is of God, you just have to look around you. when i get to feeling like an athiest, i always snap back into being a believer just by looking around me, it has to come from somewhere doesnt it?

did not needing to plan for the future affect your career choices and your consequent wealth?.
i'm not simply talking about following the advice to not take up an education which has been discused many times, but i'm going further to say that those brought up in "the truth" had their whole philosophy moulded and shaped in a way which never searched for more or wanted more; a non-materialistic outlook.. now some may still say materialism is evil, or that being brought up this way leads to a more content life.. the cynics, like myself, will say that keeping people 'happy but poor' is the genius of the rich.. i've had some success after leaving the org, after taking up education and so on, but it has taken time.

I am a Former Addict
by Robdar ini quit smoking 3 days ago.
it was not as difficult as i thought it was going to be.
i have tried to break the habit before but always gave up, thinking that i was hopelessly addicted.

congrats and hang on in there, i gave up 4 months and 1 week ago, the first week is known as hell week, which i think was true for me too. when you feel weak, go look at no smoking sites, or at pictures of the cancer it causes, and soon the cravings will be gone.

The Best wishes
by ozziepost inmrs ozzie was just saying to me as we were driving home, "isn't it so refreshing to be able to respond to xmas wishes without cringing or worrying about 'our conscience!'".
funny isn't it that when we were dubs (the true christians) we could be so disrespectful of the good wishes of others.
now that we are a little "worldly" we can show real appreciation for others thoughtfulness.

by IronGland inwhy would an all knowing master of space and time feel the irrepressible need to be adored by mere insects (relatively speaking), and indeed punish them in the most absolute of terms if they fail in this task?
indeed it makes god seem very human, although rather immaturely so.
we expect such behavior from schoolyard bullies, megalomaniac dictators and small children who demand adoration from their beaten dogs.

hear hear! i didnt go to uni because i assumed armageddon was coming. i started university in 1999, and graduated this summer with a 2:1 in internet technology, and am now working as a software engineer, being paid better than i ever have and loving it as much as i knew i would. i think thats one of the worst things about jw's, you just waste your life waiting. i feel quite fortunate that i didnt waste my whole life, and am very sorry for those who have and regret it.

aChristian,i agree, but i think the reason alot of people have a problem is that there is no love in letting billions of people suffer sometimes in the most dreadful circumstances, for thousands of years, all because 2 people made a mistake. is that fair?

Life, death and other musings
by outbackaussie ini have been absent from here for afew days.
on thursday my hubby got a phonecall from his dearest and best friend's partner that the tumour in his brain had agressively spread and it was looking like time is just about up.
we have known that this was coming for about 2 years since he was diagnosed with the cancer but even now it is a shock and very numbing to know you will lose a dear friend soon.
