Yeah-the only time I have ever seen someone "cut off" is when they start acting out of sorts or are causing trouble. But I did see a thing on the news just the other day about how they were gonna start passing more laws making bars responsible for cutting people off for being intoxicated. Sheesh, doesn't anybody have to take personal responsibilty anymore.

as you may or may not know, hl and i are planning on visiting the land of the free next april.
however, i was deeply shocked to see an example of the nations drinking habits in a film shown on bbc 1 last night.

You could have been a curling stone, tapioca pudding, a dreidel, an apple, a pocket calculator, a toaster, or a tape dispenser.
So I guess I am versatile?

Damn Holidays !
by JH inevery time a holiday happens to be in the middle of the week, i get mixed up, and wonder what day we are.
this morning, i had the impression it was saturday.
good thing i had my watch to tell me it was tuesday.

That always happens to me too! I will admit to that being the one thing I may not like about holidays. Spring foward, and fall back always messes me up too. I am hardly what you might call a mechanical person, so I hate having to remember when to change the clocks, and how to change them all. So my clocks are usually off for part of the year. It drives my husband crazy, but I tell him that I know what time it is.

J.W's and Divorce
by meadow77 init has become apparent to me, through many of your stories that jw's seem to have a hard time staying with their spouses who leave the borg.
i was wondering if this is just a case by case thing or are they in fact encouraged to leave spouses who no longer believes.
it seems strange that they would encourage that seeing as how we are instructed to stay in marriages even with a non-believer if they are happy to stay in the marriage.

Pete-thank you for sharing your story. It's a rare occurance indeed that two people might be so meant to be together that they can weather that type of storm. I am very happy for both of you that you are still together and borg free. New York, is your wife open to hearing any of the reasons that you left?

They are saying that the quotes are taken out of context, and the WT never believed that way. They said they will only accept them, if I can produce the entire articles. Does anyone know how I can get these?

Murder of child Hitler
by meadow77 insomeone posed this question to me the other day, and i have to say it has really had me thinking.
we were discussing abortion, and they asked me if i would have killed hitler as a baby, knowing what he would do as an adult.
i believe murder is wrong, but do you think it is justified saving others lives?

As far as the abortion issue, we were just discussing the different aspects of abortion from all viewpoints. And my friend asked if I thought pro-lifers would support killing Hitler as a baby. I think I agree with what has been said here. I don't think two wrongs make a right. I just thought that it is a complex question, considering the incredible suffering which may have been preventable. It could also be looked at ike this, is the good of many worth making the sacrifice for. Is one life worth saving billions?

I believe murder is wrong, but do you think it is justified saving others lives? Also, it's a complex question, because it involves the murder of a child, even if it was Hitler. What do you think. Would murder of Hitler as a baby been justified?

Thank you for your responses. I have been talking with some Mormons lately. Not converting mind you, just to chat. As you can imagine, sometimes it's hard to get a straight answer from some people on their beliefs, or better an answer that you can understand. The baptism thing really through me off, because I view baptism as something someone does to be within God's will. I couldn't figure out why they did it, or what made them think they could make that decision for someone else. Thank you for the help.
