Would you invite a stranger into your home without first finding out who he is? What if there was no way to find out? Would you allow such a stranger to be alone with your children?
This was my favorite part.

i changed my question to this: .
what nice biblical name would you give your child, and what was the ugliest biblical name you ever heard a witness give to his child?edited by - jh on 18 january 2003 12:3:36.
I always liked Esther because she seemed like an important woman in the bible, I don't know but I always liked that story. I also always liked Isaiah, Caleb, Jacob, Gabriel, Zachariah, and I kinda like David too, but it's become so common now. Also for a girl I have always liked the name Eve.
Names to avoid I would have to agree Jezebel is definitly up there. I would probably avoid two biblical names together, sometimes it can just be overkill. Like I have a friend who is named Gabriel Abraham, and my husband's name is Timothy Joseph. His isn't all that bad, but I tell him his name makes him sound like a priest. I also used to like the name Issac, but there was this really doofy kid I knew from high school named Isaac, and now I could never name my kid that. It's funny how things like bad experiences with people can really ruin perfectly good name for you. HHMMMM maybe I'll start a thread about that.
"hello, may I speak to Opah?"
I thought it was Orpha, but either way I heard that was who Oprah Winfrey was named after. Her mother meant to name her after this character from the bible, but misspelled it, so Voila Oprah.
i was hoping to enjoy the championship game between the eagles and the bucs.. but no more than 5 or 10 minutes into the game, a budweiser ad comes on that uses a very obvious double entendre (a conversation between a man and woman that revolves around the very large sweatshirt she is wearing.
she makes comments like, "small ones are ok, but big ones just feel better.
" the commercial closes with her remarking about his "small hands".).
Some are o.k, some are just stupid. But as a beer drinking woman I have often wondered why the beer ads are almost exclusivly geared toward men, and why they have to be so obvious with their gratuities sex and steroetypes.
Meadow of the women like to drink beer too class

I AM TOO!!!
HEHE-By the title I thought you had something really important to tell all us ladies on the forum. You know like when your girlfriend comes up to you and says "Giiirrrrrrrlll, you are not gonna believe what I heard!" I know you are a women ViV-a great one.
Dan-You are being honest and so am I. I don't think it's fair to say that because I found your comments generalizing that I am just being politically correct. In every single one of your posts you hounded on the idea that these poor black men were being taken advantage of. It seemed to me like you were generalizing. Maybe you weren't. Are you listening to me at all. I said alot more in my posts than the one sentence that you isolated. If I have misread your intentions, I am sorry, but to say that believing not every black man is being taken advantage of by some witchy white women is the equivalent of political correctness is simply not fair. I understand that this is something that you have observed, and I never said that your observations were wrong, or that this never happened. It just seemed to me that since that is what you pointed out, that this is something you felt happened alot. I was just expressing my viewpoint, just like you were, there is no reason to get angry.
Dan- I like what Mulan used to use as her quote. No-one can take advantage of you without your permission. Again, women and men take advantage of eachother all the time regardless of race. Some actually love eachother regardless of race. You are certainly entitled to your observations, just remember that they are limited. And I am sorry for what happened to you, but it's probably the most telling for why you feel the way you do. You seem to see not only youirself as a victim, but also this other man she went out with, because you seem to feel that she used him too. There is nothing wrong with prefering to date within your own race, just like their is nothing wrong with dating outside of it. The only thing I was asking you to see is that generalizations are dangerous.
Oh and Lying Eyes-I would like to say a big ditto on the Lenny Kravitz thing. If I were single I would stalk him to the ends of the earth and make him mine!
hey guys i need some help.
i'm trying to get my certification for being partly first nations--my maternal grandfather is blackfeet.
i've already visited the bureau of indian affairs website from the feds...but i'm having a problem.
LDH-Your specific tribe should have a number where you can reach them directly and explain your predicament. If there is something that can be done, they should be able to direct you. I would agree that they probably have a website as well. Does your mother have a card? Because usually as long as you can prove that you have a blood relative on the roles, you can get a card. If your mother does not have a card or will not give you here info, it could be trickier, but usually the administration of your tribe can be quite helpful.
its got to be rage against the machine, "killing in the name of" .
just had the bassline to this song rumbling through my head, havent heard it for ages though .
you need to know the chorus.
Blinded by the light anyone?
which in my observation seems to be the mentality of a lot of black men.
Dan-I am not trying to start a war with you here, but this is my point. We can make limited observations about other people, but first of all our observations can be incorrect, secondly you do not know all black men dating white women, and have no idea what their motivations are. People date who they ae attracted too, for whatever reason this women likes to date black men, that's who she finds attractive. There is no reason to read more into it than that. I know plenty of white women who are overbearing and aggressive and married to white men. I know black women who are very aggressive and princessish and married to white men. My grandmother who is Native American is very much the prima donna and she's married to my grandpa who is english and german, and yes he "puts up" with everything she dishes out. Nobody makes the distinctions unless it's white women and black men which just suggests racism. There are loads of women out there dishing out to a man who loves them and takes it. Color has nothing to do with it.
