When Charles Taze Russell was alive he taught that he was the Faithful and Discreet Slave. His wife thought otherwise. In fact, she wrote a book about that and many other things in connection with the religion that Russell believed in.

Why do people feel they need religion in their life ???
by run dont walk inafter growing up a jw all my life, i have no clue why people would want to be part of any religion.. i don't get the mormon stuff.
i don't understand the catholic faith.

I believe that some governments actively encourage a belief in religion because it assists them in keeping the peace. Some people will turn away from crime because they feel that God will punish them if they do something wrong. Or, if they do commit a crime some will become remorseful and feel that they have sinned against God. So religion does play a role in maintaining the peace among men in many nations, not just Christian ones.

The Height of Irony
by Gary1914 in"the endeavor to compel all men to think alike on all subjects, .
culminated in the great apostasy and the development of the great papal system, and thereby the gospel, the one faith that paul and the other apostles set forth, was lost - buried under the mass of uninspired decrees of popes and councils.
the unity of the early church, based upon the simple gospel and bound only by love, gave place to the bondage of the church of rome...each new reform movement (like protestantism) has made the failure of attempting to make a creed just large enough for its prime movers.

Ex-elders: did you ever confront anyone on FAKE HOURS
by Quotes ina few recent threads have been about faking hours in field service reports (for example, this one: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/72429/1.ashx).
a number of posters said they would never actually go in service, but still magically get in their hours each month.
my question to you ex-elders: did you ever confront someone on this?
-
Gary1914
This topic is right up my alley. I never thought I would actually adit this this.
I have been faking my hours for years. I even pretend to be a full time pioneer. It's not hard. I meet the group a few times a week and then go off on my "bible studies" and "return visits".
I even sleep in on the weekends. After all, I have been out all week I need time to study, pray and ponder. (HBO ON demand!)
I am a paragon of spirituality in my congregation. I have not actually been out in service for more than a hour or two a month for years.
I don't want to lose my family and friends and I sure as hell don't want to be an advocate for the malarky that this organization is putting out. So I just go alone and make up stuff. Experiences, bible studies and all the rest of it.

E-WATCHMAN LETTER - WHY NOT SELL IT AS AN ELECTRONIC SUBMISSION ON EBAY?
by Gary1914 ini don't get to post much here but i read this board whenever i can.. anyway, in reference to the fabulous e-watchman letter rearding the watchtower's association with the un as an ngo, why not offer the information electronically on ebay.
no stamps, no mailings and it could be held as a private auction so that identities could be protected.
it could be listed as a multiple item auction thus saving money on listing costs and the cost for the information could be minimal, say 10 or 20 cents.. ebay has a worldwide audience in excess of 50 million people and there are many elders and pioneers who sell merchandise there in an effort to supplement their income.

I think it would be a good idea to use Watchman's letter in the body of the auction and then offer the related sources fo a small price. We have to charge something because of Ebay's rules.
I do not think it is against any law to offer something for a price that a person could find on the net for free. Besides, a witness would not go on the internet to search for this information. But he may stop to read an Ebay auction.

Hello Everyone. I don't get to post much here but I read this board whenever I can.
Anyway, in reference to the fabulous E-Watchman letter rearding the Watchtower's association with the UN as an NGO, why not offer the information electronically on Ebay. No stamps, no mailings and it could be held as a Private Auction so that identities could be protected. It could be listed as a multiple item auction thus saving money on listing costs and the cost for the information could be minimal, say 10 or 20 cents.
Ebay has a worldwide audience in excess of 50 million people and there are many elders and pioneers who sell merchandise there in an effort to supplement their income. Also, many witnesses come there to shop and the word "WATCHTOWER" in the heading always draws them. The many witnesses who are wondering what the UN whispers are all about could then have the information emailed to them at no risk to their congregation status. I would list it under books in the same category that the Watchtower books that are bought and sold.
Just a thought.
Wishing you all a Happy Easter.

Wow, Stinky's husband, I am impressed. Good for you!!!
I just want to add that while Francois rants and raves and refers to Stinky n the most derragatory way, he calls Stinky's attitude "bad". But then all blacks have "bad attitudes" don't they Francois?

Frank, you're a dick. You really are
I heartily concur. I would only add that it is obvious that he is an angry one at that.
Stinky, I would just consider the source.
