I posted a topic the other day titled "do you understand..." and it referred my version of a high control group. After that post my mind was still working so I sat down to write and this is what came out:
Once you begin to conform with some degree of an acceptable level, you will be given responsibilities in the group. They will start off small to test your loyalty to the leaders of the group and to test your newfound knowledge and sense of responsibility to show appreciation to the group for letting you in. If you have studied their literature carefully enough so as to understand fully their unique teachings and views and understand their language to be able to explain them accurately and use the language correctly, and have observed enough of their ritualistic, timed-to-the-minute meetings along with their public ministry activities and you seem like you still want more, you will be considered for responsibilities given to ones who are considered to be spiritually mature. It is at this point that you will be studied and examined by the entire group to make a determination as to whether or not you are capable of being in a leadership position if they have that particular need in their particular group of 65-100 total members with 3-6 leaders (elders) and 4-8 assistants (servants) with the rest being common members who simply follow. There is a special status given to the most active recruiters in the group. Although most of these are common members and female, it is encouraged that at least one male member of leadership status also be a member of the active recruiters group to take control of their public ministry activities. You might even be considered for these positions but not too soon after conversion for fear that you have not completely given your thought control over to the manipulation of the governing body with it's numerous resorces. Your examination process will be thorough and complete, conveniently because you're discouraged from making contact with outsiders and are encouraged to associate with other fellow members who are now your new family of brothers and sisters. Every bad thing you have ever done, every wrong thought or desire you ever had, every weakness you have, your indulgences, will become public to all and will become the basis of their determination of your spiritual level by how far you have progressed from your former self into your new self. They do this at get-togethers in private homes that you are strongly encouraged to attend to further your growth and acceptance of the group and in turn their acceptance of you. They will tell you stories of their former selves then explain to you how they learned to conform to all that is required of the society. At this point you will be expected to expose yourself to the group and tell all of your secrets in the form of stories about past sins and transgressions in your former life before being converted. An amazing thing happens then, the entire group almost instantly knows every detail of your private life, which you are encouraged to continue to share with the group whether good or bad, privacy becomes your enemy. This is enforced by the created imagination that evil spirits are surrounding you constantly to try and attempt you into doing something that the society has deemed harmful. Even independent thinking is highly discouraged for fear that these may be impure thoughts implanted by demons to try and turn you away from the society and its teachings. This indoctrination will be the most terrifying, haunting, and effective method of manipulation that will follow you into your thoughts and even your sleep, scaring you into submission and conformity for fear of bring tormented by evil demons which appear to be in everything around you. An interesting twist is that not only are they doing this to you, the newly converted one, but they are doing this to each other also. Secrets are a bad thing that can destroy your faith by eating away at your mental state causing you to think and act inconsistently with the societies teachings and what they consider to be normal behavior. By encouraging everyone to keep their private lives public, the leaders become better equipped to exercise control over the will of the individuals and as a group by manipulating through constant lectures which you are expected to attend with perfect attendance, at the minimum of five hour-long meetings per week, not including time spent in the public conversion ministry and also time spent preparing for these study sessions and preaching activity. Even they way you decorate your house, the way you wear your hair, the type of car you drive, the clothes you wear, the way you discipline your children, how you spend your spare time, the t.v. shows and movies you watch, your family budget, music you listen to, which businesses you use, the type of healthcare you choose and where, how to communicate with outsiders, how you interact with unbeleiving family members, your thought process, the career you choose, how to pursue and education and to what extent, all of these things and more are what you will be expected to bring into conformity and harmony with what the governing body and its society tells you regarding how to conduct youself in all of these matters. No matter what situation you find yourself in, no matter what decision you have to make, no matter what questions you may have, they have the answer prepared for you somewhere in their literature. Conformity is a 24 hour a day challenge that will consume your life.
The strange thing is that after writing this, I feel better about things, I don't think about my wasted time as a JW as much. Pretty cool huh?

Do you understand...
by christopherceo in...what i mean when i refer to a high control group?
let me tell you how it works from my experience as a member of one.
once you become a member you're "new personality" must quickly conform to the standards set by the group regarding all manner of things we used to do in ordinary everyday life, but not any more.

...what I mean when I refer to a high control group? Let me tell you how it works from my experience as a member of one. Once you become a member you're "new personality" must quickly conform to the standards set by the group regarding all manner of things we used to do in ordinary everyday life, but not any more. Damn you if you say "good luck" because you are cursing our god and his ability to control all things with nobody else's help except our organization which was chosen by god himself and therefore is the knower of all things and the ultimate dispenser of all information that you will need to know without considering anything else in the world as a source of guidance and direction, which would result in your again denying our god and the power he shows through our faithful and descreet slave that controls everything in the organization and in turn every acpsect of your life. What to think and when to think it, how to think it, thoughts you should not think of, absolutely no independent thinking, memorizing scriptures and phrases and arguments for outsiders and sermons and lesson after lesson after lesson, until these become your own thoughts and you can no longer think for yourself because when you do their thoughts come back to warn you that is bad so you don't think, you assimilate and conform. And that is just in the first few weeks.

Hi y'all!!!
by Skeptically Yours inbeen away, extremely busy with life, for so long!
hope everything is fine with you all.. worked my charm so that the book study meeting didn't happen in my home.
that was such a sweet victory, and in such a way that my husband didn't even realize it was all my doing.

Yeah, we could create mass fear among the JW's by spreading the rumor that their bookstudies are targets for ex-JW protests. They would have to be more careful of where they meet and as always in the best interest of the common publisher: stay away from anybody trying to convince you that the WTS is wrong, we all know they are but we're too afraid to say anything, so don't. Man would they be trippin', holding special meetings and all, pretending like they are secret but putting on a very public show of their actions at the same time to draw individuated private attention from each member and the group as a whole for the insinuation that they have such a large responsibility to look after the security of the sheep that they must decide what WTS laws to apply in this situation then enforce them with any amount of aggression or control that they wish to exert regardless of the the damaging effects inflicted on so many suble levels of our senses and thinking abilities. Does anybody understand what I mean?

I was two people at once, were you?
by christopherceo inoh yeah, i did it.
i lived the double life and nobody ever found out.
i did all the things a pioneer/servant was supposed to do.

Oh yeah, I did it. I lived the double life and nobody EVER found out. I did all the things a pioneer/servant was supposed to do. I also smoked a lot of pot, among other things. Some suspected that something was different about me but couldn"t put their finger on it. And I enjoyed my little secret, it helped me keep my sanity and sense of humor. I got high before meetings, field service, get-togethers, etc. How did I explain my red eyes and "fuzzy brain"? I worked late hours, I was sleepy. The only reason I hung on the last couple of years was because of my wife and kids but when I caught her cheating on me, it was all over. Now the secret me is the public me with the exception that I am proud to say that I am no longer a JW. How about you? Were you leading a double life?

Okay, here is my problem...
by christopherceo in...with my beliefs: what is our ultimate goal in serving god?
heaven?
living forever on earth?

...with my beliefs: what IS our ultimate goal in serving God? Heaven? Living forever on earth? Or what? I would like to know what it is I should be working toward, although I don't really consider myself a religious person anymore. It's this conflict of doctrine thing, heaven or earth? Heaven would be the greatest reward for living your life the way God wants but living forever on earth is what adam / eve would be doing if they had not screwed up. My grandmother is 105 as of 01-25-03. She has read the bible her entire life and she thinks we will live on earth. Can somebody help me resolve this? Thanks in advance.

Fear Factor used to control JW children.it is nothing short of child abuse
by LyinEyes ini was thinking of this the other day,,,,,,, feeling guilty of putting my kids thru this, even thou it was not my intention at all,,,,,,,all the meetings, all the service , ,, fear was the motivating factor in doing all of the things jw's do every week.. five meetings a week jw children are subjected to hearing in graphic detail of how the birds will eat the eyeballs out of those who die in armeggedon.
then they are told they better keep on the cramped and narrow path or they will end up the same.
then they hear all the things god did in the past for those who didnt do what he said,,,,,,,terrified they will be his next victims.

My ex-wife told my 6 year old daughter a few days ago that she was having nightmares because of demons. Can you imagine what that does to a child? I guess so since most of you were inside and you know the fear tactics. Glad I'm gone.

What Is The Most Effective Brainwashing Technique The Society Uses?
by minimus init seems that for well over a century, the watchtower society has subtly controlled the minds of "thinking persons".
what ways do you think that they are most effective?
-
christopherceo
Simple...their indoctrination process provides them with a leash they use to control every aspect of your life, too lengthy to explain but everybody knows what I mean.

Will just knowing a JW get you a resurrection?
by christopherceo inlet me explain what i mean.
have you ever noticed that when somebody who is not a jw, but is related to or is friends with or some other kind of close connection to a jw, dies, that the jw will always reason that jehovah will probably give them a resurrection?
yet, if this same person died and was not connected to them in any way, they have no hope of a resurrection.

Let me explain what I mean. How is this possible? I mean, this makes no sense to me. Sounds like a programmed response installed in all JW's to further separate them from their families to the point of not even mourning the death of someone close by using very complex and intelligent manipulation of the thoughts and feelings of the group and individuals in a way that it seems the thoughts and feelings are their own, but they are not. However, any deviation from this expected response will get you examined through the humiliating interrogation process used by the brotherhood. To make my point simple, it seems that if you know a JW but are not one yourself, you can receive a resurrection if you die, (if you believe in the WTS understanding on this subject, which I find holes in), you just don't have to live the life. No wonder why so many are leaving to be a part of the crowd that doesn't have to live the life prescribed by the WTS, and in doing so, find that there is a lot to be explored. Personally, I don't care to know any JW's.
