sorry to wreck everyone's lovely christmas eve, but it's time for some brutal torture!

if nothing else, "dubsticks" illustrates how a perfectly normal and often happy person is going along in life minding his or her own business, and then dubs enter into that life and change everything.

this is an issue that i've had to look into due to the extreme paranoia of my mother.

it's getting ridiculous.

and it get's worse everytime she reads the publications.

Second, are the elders better trained in discerning "sin" or dealing with the mentally ill? Keep the elders out of it!

This has nothing to do with wether the elders are trained or not to deal with anything....this is just to show them that this member of their "flock" is somewhat not everything she may be appearing to be at their KH.

And the evidence recorded would also benefit professional medical people to have a clue as to what is going on....it is highly unlikely that a person knowing they are being recorded will act the same way.....the recordings are not aimed to harm but to help.

Hooked On A Kingdom Song.

i've just been playing back farkels rendition of his "dubsticks".

it really makes me smile, the way that he makes the melody weave in an out of "chopsticks" and then "from house to house" in a way that is so fluid that it brings to mind the almost seamless stitching together of the old "hooked on 45's" and "hooked on classics" albums of the early 80's.. so i was thinking, what kingdub songs could we weave effortlessly into existing music?

i can think of two or three right now.. "we thank you jehovah" bears more than a passing resemblance to haydns "creation" imho.. then again "keep your eyes on the pies" is almost, to my tuneless ear anyway, a carbon copy of "some day my prince will come" from the movie snow white.. finally, an old kingdub song whose name escapes me, but carrying the words "it's your commission now to preach", always puts me in mind of the main them running through wagners "lohengrin".. now i'm not suggesting for one minute that maestro farkel should work on melodies such as these for the sole purpose of our mutual tittilation.

Hi Nickey,

Firstly let me say I'm sorry you are being made to endure such abuse, I haven't read all the responses to your original post..so maybe i am repeating something someone already suggested...but here goes anyway.

Get yourself a tape recorder, a small one and keep it on yourself at all times when you are around your mom.
When your mom starts hurling abuse at you or ranting....record what she is saying...you stay calm
Date the sessions..by adding the date and time at the end of her rantings
After a while a few weeks should suffice...take the recordings to the Elders of the KH she attends explain to them that you are concerned about her mental health and play the tapes to them...DO NOT LET THEM KEEP THE TAPE unless you made a copy.

Maybe this way they can help your mom???? Big question...but at least this way you will have recorded proof...in case your mom is mentally ill and needs medical assistance.

Neighbours are JW's - Or are they?

hi, i've been reading through some of this forum, and it's certainly got more information than anywhere else i've found.

so i'm hoping that perhaps someone here might be able to give me some answers/ideas on a situation that is really puzzling me.. i live in melbourne, australia, with my husband of 12 years, and no kids.

for the past 6 months i've been living next door to my neighbours, unaware that they are jw's.

To answer your questions, many people who have become Jehovah's Witnesses, were not always Jehovah's Witnesses, people in the organisation refer to people outside of the org as being in the "world" sometimes these people have had difficulties in being assimilated...that is they still have a lot of "worldly traits".

Tatoos are not an uncommon sight amongst JW's. Some convert "Brothers" in Japan used to belong to the Yakuza a form of Japanese Mafia, and they were required to have HUGE tatoos when a part of the Yakuza. They still have those tatoos to this day...but are no longer Yakuza members. So it is not really an issue.

Anyone claiming to be a Baptised Witness isn't really encouraged to marry outside the faith...however if one of the legally married couple converts to the faith after marriage and becomes baptised, then legally and scriptually the convert is still bound to that mate, unless adultery is commited. Then they are free to decide to forgive the offending mate...or obtain a divorce.

Well, an active JW shouldn't do this...any decent human being shouldn't do this...but then anyone can say they are something when they are not...I can say I am the handsomest man in the world and believe it...doesn't make it so...just like the "Governing Body" of JW's claim to be The faithful and discreet Slave...also does not make it so.

I'm Sick

i haven't been sick in several years, but about 3 hrs.

before my family was coming for our christmas eve dinner and present exchanges i got really sick.

my stomach had this strange feeling and i felt like i was going to die, not pain but a wierd feeliing.

It's about 3:30am Thursday morning here and I couldn't sleep too well, came online and saw the nice responses to my earlier post.
