Paradise Erf sounded really boring to me. Jehovah would destroy all the cool stuff, mainly great music and video games. All we'd have left is Kingdom Melodies and the occasional written review.

Not having a paradise earth in the future makes me sad - What about you?
by BonaFide inyes, i am enjoying realizing the truth about the truth.. but there is another side to it.
the world as we know it didn't seem to me to be the way that god intended it to be.
i know i was brainwashed, but it felt good believing that all the bad things would be changed.

$175 Tax on Every Cow ("Fart Tax")
by skeeter1 inthe news stories are reporting that the epa has proposed a tax on cows and other farm animals.
the tax is $175/cow (amounts for other animals are lower).
the reason is methane gas, a greenhouse gs.. the price of beef and dairy is expected to rise dramatically.

I think we should tax the government for farting in their big comfy chairs.

Currently, much of the litteratrash going from the Wallkill to the congregations is sent on Watchtower Corp trucks to assembly halls and other literatrash depots. Other more remote congregations get theirs via UPS, I think. So, now they'll have to change it up for the trucks coming from Canada.
That's how I figured they'd deal with the transport of finished literature. The more they can eliminate the worldly middle man who makes a nice chunk of cash from delivery, the more money they'll have in their bank accounts and the more volunteers they can have driving trucks. All they have to do is pay gas and maintain the vehicles. BTW, does the WT have their own volunteer mechanics? That wouldn't surprise me.
Walkill could be just a central distribution site for the USA and home to the wonderful FDS and / or lawyers.
I'm wondering how much more the WTS can downsize and cut back before it runs into problems? They cheapened the literature, reduced the literature, eliminated food from conventions, dumped a bunch of Bethelites, and are selling of a bunch of their buildings. Can they actually thrive on donations and estates from dead JWs?

Anyone have a good Meeting for Field Service story?
by BonaFide inoh, yes those wonderful meetings for service.
for some reason, they are so long and disorganized and boring.
seems no one wants to get out there in the territory.. i remember in one hall when i was a teenager, a ministerial servant, about 50 years old, would conduct the midweek meeting for service at the kh at 9 am.

Burning Question: Snacks at Kingdom Hall
by TreadClimberMaster ini have not been to a kingdom hall for years, about 6. i have been going to other churches, namely, unity, unitarian and tonight a jewish reform temple.
what i notice at all of these churches is one recurring theme: they all serve snacks, coffee and punch in the foyer before and after the services.
this is really nice and i truly enjoy it!

Remember when they had food at conventions? Those fluorescent roast beef sandwiches were the best. I don't know where they got the bbq sauce from, but I just loved it.
Then they took that away. They also took away one of the dramas. I'm surprised they still HAVE one drama left. Eventually they'll probably take that one away and make people eat ouside of the convention area.

Young JW males dating non-JWs scenario
by Gayle ini know this happens among the jw girls too.
i had seen this many years ago as a jw but a couple recent circumstances i have been informed of this happening now as well.. young jw males dating non-jw girls.
some still active, some fading (not because of questioning jw doctrines), perhaps just wanting a bit of the wild side.

Young JW males dating non-JW girls.
I did that. Now that I look back on it, it was a strange experience. You know how paranoid I was about getting caught? I was always worried that someone from the KH would see me and report me.
After I started doubting, I didn't care if I got caught.

The whole Health Care angle is a very good angle to look at. The other may also be the economy. The economy here in Canada isn't as shitty as it is in the US.
Also, Ontario's loaded with the pulp and paper industry. It makes sense to move printing there since it'll reduce cost of shipping.

I Was Warmly Invited...
by Nosferatu in....to get in my car, drive the one hour to selkirk, and attend the three day convention.
and what warmer way to be invited than to find a cheap piece of paper in my mailbox.

I'd scan it, but I don't feel like it. If you saw last year's, all you need to do is change the picture on the front to a bunch of people walking in a straight line out of a thunderstorm and into a sunny area. Woooo.
