Almost sounds like my experience, except I was actually beaten up in school. I didn't fit in, my mother made me wear hand-me-downs that were horrendously out of date because "Jehovah's people are supposed to stand out". And when I wasn't getting beat up at school, I was getting beat up at home.
As time progressed, I because marked as "bad association" in the congregation. Why is beyond me. So people in the Hall wouldn't talk to me, and I wasn't allowed to spend time with worldly kids. It's the spot where you're truly alone.

1969 "fact": You will never grow old in this present system of things
by Ding inawake!
"if you are a young person, you also need to face the fact that you will never grow old in this present system of things.
because all the evidence in fulfillment of bible prophecy indicates that this corrupt system is due to end in a few years... therefore, as a young person, you will never fulfill any career that this system offers.

Commenting on youtube videos
by Sittingstraight1212 ini find in the day and age of texting or commenting on boards etc.
if people don't know you, it's easy for them to mis-understand you.
its bad enough to be judged in the org.

It's a side effect from being part of the organization. JWs naturally develop the ability to judge others. When we exit out of the org, we need to work at getting rid of this side-effect. On that same token, I think that those who exit out of the org are very much afraid of being judged as well. People who have this fear need to learn that they're independent people with independent thoughts, morals, and ideas, and do not need to live up to the opinion of others. This was one of the first things I decided I needed to learn when I was exiting the org. I truly wanted to not give a damn about what people thought about me. You know what? It made me a much stronger person.
Everyone who exits the org will (hopefully) discover defects in their personalities that need to be fixed. Those are two major ones.

The Watchtower Society Cripples Their Own Preaching Work
by Nosferatu inif there's one scripture that defines the entire purpose of a jehovah's witness's existence, it's matthew 24:14.
"this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come.".
this is the entire purpose of going door to door.

If there's one scripture that defines the entire purpose of a Jehovah's Witness's existence, it's Matthew 24:14. "This good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come."
This is the entire purpose of going door to door. Jehovah's Witnesses WANT Armageddon to come so this wicked system of things is destroyed. Unfortunately, there are people who do NOT want this good news to reach all ends of the earth. This includes the Watchtower Society itself.
I was looking at Terry's thread about the Quotes website. It was a great website that showed quotes from the Watchtower's vehicles for distributing the good news of the kingdom. The internet reaches the far ends of the earth in seconds. The Watchtower Society threatened the website owner with a lawsuit, forcing him to take it down.
Last week, I was watching the Watchtower Society's released "The Prodigal Son" because someone put it onto Youtube. The video already had over 9000 views when I began watching it. The Watchtower Society contacted Youtube to have it taken down due to copyright infringement. Unfortunately, I had not reached the end of the video and did not recieve the entire life-saving message that they were trying to convey in the video.
They are slowing down the preaching work and delaying Armageddon by pulling their life-saving work off the internet. Why are they doing this? Wouldn't putting the information onto the internet actually be contributing to the preaching work? I know they have two websites, but not everybody is going to go on the internet and punch in www.watchtower.org. They're going to become aware of the life-saving work by stumbling onto it by accident, much like when an interested one finds an Awake! magazine at the doctor's office, a tract on the ground, or a Watchtower at the laundromat. Shouldn't the life-saving message be spread around on as many websites as possible?
Watchtower, why are you slowing down the preaching work? Why???

Remember what happened in 2005?
by Terry inwould any of us defend the right of a medicine manufacturer to advertise curative powers without side effects when evidence to the contrary was indicated?.
would any of us defend the right of a pharmacist to make up his own prescriptions and pass it off as what our physician specifically gave to us?.
would any of us approve equal time for tv advertisers to promote products as effective which had repeatedly proved to be dangerous?.

Anyone who has stayed a couple of years around there knows that the organization is full of good and at atimes wonderful people.
The JWs I found that were the most genuinely good people were the ones who were either "weak in the truth" or were marked as "questionable". They are the ones who don't judge others because everyone else is always judging them. As for the others, they're just brainwashed to "give a good example". When you quit going to meetings or get disfellowshipped, their real colors show. They either ignore you or use their interaction with you to get you back to the meetings. They don't genuinely care what you do outside of the kingdom hall.

What on earth happened to the magazines?
by slimboyfat infor the first time in years today.
to say that it took me five minutes to read the whole thing would be to flatter the rag.
it doesn't even seem to contain actual articles any more, just headings and bullet points and pictures.

I could honestly see the WTS moving toward dumping the public Awake & Watchtower for something simple, like a monthly tract. One page with a pretty picture on it, a little bit of fluffy text on it, and a link to jw.org promising a more informative article. They can't get rid of the publications entirely because they need to keep the R+F busy with life-saving work. As for the stuff printed exclusively for the R+F (with the exception of the exclusive Watchtower and Bibles) they can throw it all on their website for downloading. They could probably move the Watchtower onto their website and make the R+F print them off at their own expense to use at the meetings.
Times are hard and money is tight. Gotta cheapen things up a bit more!
