Haven't had a chance to stop by and take a pic yet. Didn't want to do it on Sunday because it just looks so much scarier when it's unoccupied. I'll try and get around to it today

JW.ORG signs on Assembly Hall
by Nosferatu inwhat the hell is going on here?
i drove past the assembly hall today and noticed the square blue jw.org signs on the building.
coupled with the steel gate that keeps worldlings out, it really looks quite cultish.. so is that the new name for the kingdom halls or something?

So I found the original thread about this:
I mean, it SERIOUSLY looks like an scary institution. I figured it would be in the WT's best interest to make themselves look more friendly and inviting instead of an evil prison. But I must say it's quite fitting. Perhaps I'll drive by and take a picture later today

What Happened to the Religion I Left in 1995?
by JoshJeffries injosh here, new to the board.
glad to know this site is here.. i would not be writing this if it were not 2014. i was a ministerial servant and regular pioneer who left the jehovahs witnesses back in 1995/96, around that time.
i left suddenly, didnt fade away, just left when something clicked one day in my head during the morning shower and made me realize this religion wasnt true.

Welcome to the board!
Even if I wanted to go back to it, the religion I left in 1995 passed away a generation ago.
You left around the same time I did. I think I made a post fairly recently about how the religion has almost changed beyond recognition for me. An updated bible, new song book, no more hard covered books, no more slide shows, children's animation DVDs released, coloring and connect-the-dot pages, no more book study groups, less assemblies, no more local convention, two different versions of the Watchtower, and the list goes on. It's really quite bizarre to think that this religion changed so much in the last 20 years. The light gets brighter! I personally NEVER imagined the Watchtower making cartoons and activity pages for children. All we had was My Book of Bible Stories and Listening to the Great Teacher, along with the yellow and pink cassettes that dictated it directly into our brains.
When my JW niece got into a debate with me about the JWs, I told her I didn't want to be selling Watchtower magazines at the doors. She responded with "We don't sell magazines". I told her "They USED to when I was in!" The magazines also used to get mailed to your door in a little paper slip cover. Now everybody gets an independent magazine dealer.
It's funny how the Live Forever book was like the golden tool used to turn ordinary folk into JWs. Now it's as piece of useless lie-filled literature, simply due to the fact that the religion outgrew it.
Yup, strange how much "The Truth" has changed. Didn't think truth could change that much. And we're probably going to continue seeing change. I'm waiting for them to start having "Sunday School".

So many dubs
by Nosferatu inlast weekend while i was checking out garage sales, i swear i saw about 10 "pairs" of dubs doing their important work.
they were handing out the pamphlets for the convention.. i've never seen that many in one weekend.
was there some sort of special, motivational request for doing the preaching work last weekend?.

Just tell them you accidentally dropped a tract in the toilet while wiping. They'll understand.

Beatles Songs That Aren't Performed By The Beatles
by DT ini was hoping you could help me with a little research project.. for reasons that are a little hard to explain, i'm interested in watching videos of beatles songs that are performed by anybody except the beatles themselves.
i'm especially interested in performances by people from foreign countries, (i'll provide a few examples.
) but feel free to add any other interesting videos.

Anyone know where to get support?
by Nosferatu ini blew up and dumped my girlfriend on monday over a silly little thing.
it's been happening in pretty much every relationship i get involved in.
it never happened before my marriage.. during my marriage, i was alone almost all the time.

It really doesn't have to do with my self-esteem and my depression. I'm generally positive and self-confident. It's more like a trigger that gives me these high emotional spikes that I have difficulty controlling. They cause me to do stupid things.

I've been playing phone tag with the counselor to get a session in. I just figured out my problem like yesterday, and I'm dying to get myself on the road to recovery. This problem has been a plague for the last 4 years, and now that I finally know what's wrong with me, I'm determined to get it under control. I picked up a book called "The Journey from Abandonment to Healing" which is sitting on my Kindle, waiting for some child-free time to focus on it.
