I kinda want to respond, but I feel like I'm still getting flushed down the worldly toilet. For the record, I was never close to him or anything. I tried being friends with his son back in the KH, but that wasn't welcomed either. I was genuinely concerned for this guy with how awful he was being treated for his repentance.
I don't know if I'm pissed off at him or feel sorry for him. He thinks about my mom? I can't help but wonder what kind of awful things she told him about me. I was marked as "bad association" and nobody wanted their kids hanging around me.
I never did anything to this guy. I was usually just quiet and kept to myself at the hall. I knew better than to open my mouth because i'd get judged. Perhaps I'm still being judged.

He grew his hair longer and a goatee. His wife passed away those 3 years ago, spent 2 trying to come back (without success) and got remarried.

So I tracked down my old PO who was booted out of the cult 3 years ago. He used to basically just say hello and just walk away. I sent him a message on FB saying I hope he's well, complimented him on how good he looked, and I sent him a friend request. He didn't accept it, gave me a very brief description of what happened, said he thinks of my mom often, and told me to take care.
He still seems quite cold and heartless toward me.
I really would like to befriend him now that we're both out, but I'm really not sure what to think of him.

I think the new brand represents desperation. They're seeing the numbers fall and the abundance of "apostate" information popping up on the internet. If I were on the inside, I would have been saying "It's about time they started working on the appeal of the organization OTHER than petting lions and seeing dead loved ones in the new system." I mean, they're finally working at making the org more appealing for children. However, they're still going to have difficulty when it comes to teenagers. What appeal does the org have for teenagers? There's no interesting music, no youth groups, no nothing. Teenagers are more likely to be the ones going on the internet and stumbling across things. Eventually, we may see more things that appeal to that age group.

I enjoy listening to Led Zeppelin recordings from when they were in their heyday. The reunions have been awful and their individual solo albums have generally been disappointing.

I saw him with Turner about 4 years ago. I didn't like very many of BTO's recordings, but when they played that stuff live, damn did it ever sound good! I mean, it sounded WAY BETTER than the studio recordings. The best thing he could do is record a live album, and as far as I know he hasn't.

by Calebs Airplane inlurkers.... check your calendars... october 2, 2014 is only 500 days away.... look for illogical nu-lite from the wt in publications and conventions that will attempt to explain this away.. they've already bought themselves some time by splitting a "generation" into 2 overlapping generations... still, they have a lot of explaining to do... this should get really interesting... stay tuned.... .

Saw my parents yesterday, and I brought up the subject of the JW.ORG signs with my mother. Her response blew me away. "This is getting stupid".
What? Did I hear this correctly?
My mother's a die hard and will probably never leave, but she thinks the rebranding is a bad idea. She was even disgusted when I showed her the picture of the assembly hall.
I can't help but wonder how many other JWs feel this way.
