Have to agree with Blondie on this one - The Babylon the Great book.I had to sit through a study of this 3 times at the book study as a kid.
From what I can recall "Revelation - It's Grand Climax" also got the same treatment. I remember studying it at least 2 times during the book study. Nobody could grasp the damn thing.

I think the worst book the Society ever released was "Your Youth - Getting the best out of it". My mother had arranged for a brother to study it with me, and it was sheer embarrasment. I remember the chapter on masturbation very well. I remember the brother studying it with me, and telling me "not even one rub". Ugh! My mother also read that chapter to me multiple times when I was suspected of indulging in this "sin". That book should have been called "Your Youth: How To f*** It Up".

being raised a witness, my mother has asked me whether or not i held her responsible for her bringing me up in the way that she has.
i feel that my upbringing is something my mother can be proud about.
even though i do not believe in the "truth", i do feel that she did a good job of raising us.
My parents raised me? I thought Jehovah did. The line my mother always used was "Don't do it for me, do it for Jehovah".
I know my mother was under the influence of the WTS, and she also had issues from her past. However, realizing this does NOT change history, and it never will. I gained a few good things from my parents, but I spent a lot of time working on myself, undoing a lot of the traits I was raised with, and I continue to do so. The way my parents raised me was very damaging to my self-esteem.
After I moved out, I realized that my parents aren't very nice people. All of my friends and (ex)girlfriends have noticed this as well. They are all quite amazed that I am so much different than my parents.
My mother believes that I turned out good and level-headed because I was raised by bible principles. She keeps telling me that she did a good job in raising me.
In answer to the question, I have to say NO.

and what would the elders/judicial committee say to you if you wanted to go back.. do you think even if you returned with a new attitude, that you would always be "marked" by the congregation.. should get some interesting answers !!!!!!!!!
I could go back if I wanted to. The elders would make me get baptized..... But there is no way IN HELL that I would go back. My childhood was wasted - not by choice, and I would never do the same to my kids.
1. have an apostate food truck outside with free burritos and shasta cola.. 2. wear a smurf costume and run across the stage.. 3. bikini car wash across the street.. 4. have an old-school breakdancing session on the corner, cardboard and all.
bonus if you do it on a mat made of watchtowers and primary colored book covers.. 5. have a garage sale or flea market in the neighborhood during the afternoon session.. 6. sit in the audience and applaud everything that anybody says - try to get a standing ovation for each sentence of the closing prayer.. 7. put a recording of rap, heavy metal, or other forbidden music on instead of the kingdom melodies.. 8. get fifty of your friends to walk around in the stadium during the session, holding signs that say, "louder please!
" and "take your shirt off!

there have been many discussions on this board about the hope that we all have that the wts organization would tumble.. some have thought that the internet will play a big role ( i think so), others think that it is abuse issues, others still think it might be doctrinal issues.. if the wts was to take a fall, would there be a break off group in your opinion?
would there be the die-hard witnesses that would start a division, take over perhaps?
would some governing body members go one way, and others go another way?
I think if the WTS did collapse, everyone would continue to meet in their book study groups. They would have to re-study all the old publications, and they might end up discovering things they never knew about the society. Also, the threat of disfellowshipping would be non-existant, people would quit going to their book study groups, and it would fizzle out from there.

this book, "bad blood" by george dalgleish was written by a jehovah's witness here in winnipeg.
i only have a b&w scanner, and the red turned out faintly.
i clearly remember my mother packing this book for shipping when working for a jw, and she recieved a free copy as well as having the privelage of meeting the "famous" author.. the book flopped - big time.
