Cain and Abel..... why the disagreements?
by anti-absolutism inwhen i was quite young, (about 8 years old) and i was told about the abel being favoured by god, cain getting jealous and killing abel story, i couldn't help but wonder why god was so hard on cain.
i am certainly not condoning cain killing his brother, but since god made both the animals that abel was offering and the veggies that cain was offering, why was cain looked down on?.
also, why did it seem better to god to kill an animal that abel offered, as opposed to thinking, well at least cain is only wasting some food.

Does anyone TRULY die?
by anti-absolutism ini have been reading the book, "the power of positive thinking" by norman vincent peale.
he is/was a christian minister, but his thoughts on god are somewhat different than what i thought a minister's thoughts would be.
in the second last chapter he expresses an interesting viewpoint.

My four year old just made me laugh!!!!!
by anti-absolutism ini just sat down at the puter and my four year old came in, sat down beside me, calmly picked up my new world translation bible and said, "daddy, what is this bible for?
" boy does that open up a great debate.
if she only knew the impact of her question...... i thought it was really cute.

by anti-absolutism in.

Eternal Life through Jesus - When did it start?
by anti-absolutism inok this one might seem odd to some people... as christians, (i personally am not sure if i want to consider myself christian yet) is the belief that, since christ gave us the opportunity to have eternal life, or an immortal soul, that it was only after his death that we had the opportunity?
in other words did the people who died before his death not have the opprtunity and therefore are still just dead?.
your response is appreciated, as brief as possible, please.

I confronted an abuser today
by anti-absolutism inthis elder didn't abuse me physically or sexually.
he never intended to cause me any harm.
he really felt that he ever "knowingly" did anything to harm me!.

Do JW's ever read Ephesians4:6?
by anti-absolutism inyou know the scripture that the dubs use to "prove that there is only one true religion and that they, of course have it"?
one lord, one faith, one baptism..... has anyone ever had any experiences trying to point out that verse 6 tends to shed a different light on it?
it says, (in their own bible): one god and father of all [persons], who is over all, and through all, and in all.. to avoid swaying opinion, i will avoid giving my own experiences until i get a few responses.. thanks for your consideration, brad

Bashing JW's?. Why not bash Christianity instead?
by anti-absolutism ini've read a lot of things on this and other web sites that condemn jw's, and i agree that jw's have a huge spiritual awakening coming to them, but i think christianity as a whole has that coming to them.. people have compared what they see in the jw org.
to the inquisition for example.
i agree, but have they forgotten that the inquisition and many other evil things have transpired during so-called christianity.
