If Jehovahs Wit-lesses are gods true people, if you have the means to go, why do you have to apply for something that should be available to everyone ? If you don't have the means, why is it so it so expensive. If you're the goob dub they expect you to be, you're a full-time pioneer and probably can't afford it.

A guy I know made mention in passing that he and his wife are going this year and he's about to spend 7K !!

His wife and I work at the same company, a major US airline, they could fly there FREE !!!!!!! Why are you forced to pay the crazy amount that the WTS says pay ? I never got this. Has anyone here ever gone and worked 2-3 jobs to go, and most of all was it worth it or what you thought it would be ?

It comes off as a status symbol among some dubs I've heard speak about it

a buddy of mine who is still serving and doesn't treat me like a leper was chatting with me about the new bookstudy arrangement and the meetings in general.

he stated that the way the parts are set up now, that simply winging the answers from the km or other study material, is next to impossible.

he went on to state that he understood that the society is pushing for more pre-study.. at the risk of sounding bad, are there any thoughts on a push to get rid of the fence sitters?.

I don't know about that, but there seems to be a push to study, study, study. When I talk to my friend, it seems they are ALWAYS studying, and as I am in a spanish cong and the school is on Fridays......I wonder how much study can you do from Sunday to friday ?

Probably an attempt to keep the droids so busy with an extra night now, that they don't have time to question the WTS.

I know one guy-good friend/ was a good friend ? kinda in the middle...nevertheless, make a long story short, had a conversation about a week, week and a half ago, and he told me he's is really scared for me and he woke up that morning and PRAYED and asked jehovah how he could help me, that sometimes he wants to shake me and take me to the hall. I found it corny and extremely annoying and infuriating at the same time...like what the hell ? I felt he was patting himself on the back as if doing some great thing.

This guy is bright, he has his own business, and prob brings home about 150k a year, I've personally seen some of the money he makes, and his 'material' things. Lately I find myself wondering how a person can be so bright and and successful business wise, yet not see the WT for what it is ?????????

When we talk and he asks me about why I miss service,meetings, etc so much....I always say I see things for what they are...those are my exact words. I'm hoping he'll pick up on what I'm saying. He went through a life-changing period much like I did in 06/07 when I was sick and had a chance to step back without the rose glasses, but he is now head of a dept in one of our never ending relief jobs down here in Texas due to Hurricanes and I think that bit of power has re-energized him with da troof, plus he's a regular pioneer. The thing that bothers me is this....as I pioneered when the hours were 90 and did it the hard way ( don't know why, lol )

As head of the Dept, he does little, sooooo he spends LOTS of time there, and counts it towards his hours. Like stealing to me.

when i realized that 1975 was past, and the end appeared no closer than before.when a boe made up of men i had 'served' with for better than a decade were willing to write a letter of 'recommedation' that was character assassination at it's finest, and then defend the lies within with a straight face and no remorse.when i began to notice that many of the 'friends' seemed mentally unstable, in an organization that claimed it offered the greatest hope for mankind and the 'only true brotherhood' of supporter's available.when i saw a 'bible student' who was refused any assistance in her move to another congregation because of her sins before she was ever baptized [she never was in fact].when i was 'allowed' to conduct funerals and weddings that needed a minister, but for people who were too soiled in one way or another for the self-righteous upper-crust elders to touch.

yet they all attended and seemed to rejoice/mourn with all others in attendance.the day in the early 90's when i read a critique of jehovah's witnesses in which the author roundly condemned jw's eschatology regarding the '1914 generation', and in such article stated that they would have to renounce such foolish reasoning soon, before the end of the century to avoid being the 'relgious laughingstock' of the world.the day in 1995 when i saw his predictions come precisely true in the watchtower.when i watched and saw no other jw's bothered by this massive change in position.the months that i compiled a chart in which, using actuarial mortality figures, in which i applied the numbers, age-group by age-group to the 'annointed' from 1941 to 2002, and saw that it was empirically impossible for 8500 to still be alive.the month in which i read ray franz' books, and found myself aware that my life was about to change forever.october 2006, when after 3 years of 'fading' and staying out of sight, i submitted my letter of disassociation, and saw a look of happiness on the face of the friend-elder that took the document, though it meant the end of 20 years of personal friendship with him.the day my cousin - my best friend for 35 years - decided i was unworthy of even a reply to a simple email.the list is longer.

Two years ago, when my then JW girlfriend, dumped me, was soon DF'd for having sex with her ex-boyfriend ( I thought ) while we were going out

When I had foot surgery that set me back, and missed quite a few meetings and was unable to go out in field circus, if you aren't a top performer and kissing a** you are irrelevant in the Borg

When my once Regular pioneer partner and his sis, were divorced, and he married a "worldly" woman ( we're best of buds now still ) This was all a big deal because he went on to Bethel ( Walkill ), how he revealed to me how was ( in his words now ) a "man-whore" and I realized as a Bethel god he was getting more ass than a car seat. Well that house of cards fell down quick. It was a shock to me because they came from the atypical Dub family Dad was an elder,EVERYBODY regular pioneered.......fine,fine people if you asked the PO or CO...and they are....

Basically I began to realize ALOT of people were not what I thought, that alot of what is seen at the hall is just show, that i CONSTANTLY heard ythat there are NO classes in Gee-Hobahs Organization, but from what my eyes told me if you were an MS/Elder or Bethelite, or for sisters a size 2,regualr pioneer and especially came from one of those Well-to-do ( finacially and "spiritual" wise ) families then people fawned over and kissed your a** to no end

I was raised by a single mom, we were well to do I guess,but by no means rich or wealthy, people only talked to her because I regular pioneered and well like all the other good dub kids got invited to lots of stuff. Though everyone seemed oblivios to it, I notice that cliques abound in the ORG.

I noticed this before, but around 2006/07 when I had some hard times with my foot requiring surgery and was no longer in service/at the meetings, I began to realize it's for show and alot of friendships are CONDITIONAL.

Basically I had a nice long drink of the Kool-Aid, as a guy who came in out the world, it never occured to me that many dubs were no different than the so-called worldy people we demonized....

It has also become obvious that there are ALOT of horny people, young and old in the Borg. Especially around 18, I've never noticed before,but it appears you marry at 18 and when the thrill of having only sex in common wears off many are divorced by their mid 20's sadly.

Born and raised in Boston, Dorchester/Roxbury,now down in Houston. My aunt went to the Washington cong in Dorchester I think......going to the meetings was a requirement to visit her house when I was a kid, so I did in order to visit my cousins.

I visit Boston often,but haen't stepped foot in a hall up there in years

suppose the elders get an anonymous letter or phone call, or even a brave soul tells them that they no "brother so-and-so" is sleeping with "sister suzy q".

or a believing jw has a "non-scriptural" divorce, and wants proof her ex is sleeping with someone else.

the elders' manual says the "strong circumstantial evidence, such as evidence that the accused spent all night in the house of someone of the opposite sex who is not his wife or a family member" (paraphrase) can be used as evidence in a judicial case.. to get such "strong circumstantial eveidnce", elders have been known to "stake out" a house, spending all night in a car watching a house.. in all my time as an elder, i was never involved in one of these.

Never heard of it while in,though my mom was ALWAYS saying people watch you and see the things you do. Back then I always blew it off as my mom trying to scare me to be staright as an arrow,but it now seems as she indeed knew something.....

This whole thread made me think of a recent email I received. Maybe I can can give someout there some ideas to play with.......

being an alcoholic after she saw his old pickup parked in front of the
town's only bar one afternoon.

She emphatically told Frank (and several others) that everyone seeing it
there would know what he was doing. Frank, a man of few words, stared at
her for a moment and just turned, and walked away. He didn't explain,
defend, or deny... He said nothing.

Later that evening, Frank quietly parked his pickup in front of Mildred's
house... walked home... and left it there all night!!!

You gotta love Frank.

Lets see....I'm single never married,no kids. 31. Tall. I'm looking for my soulmate...... I travel alot, and I'm looking for someone to tarvel with, and hopefully start a life with.

The whole dating process is a headache and exasperating,but I'm hanging in there...... Someone 29-43 ( I'm open on age ,not set in stone ). Likes sports a little at least....reading,travel...latina ? I'm open to everybody though. I'm a born and raised East Coast guy,now in Texas....down to earth and he, I think I'm alot of fun.

A person who knows what they want. My experieneces with some JW women has been nothing short of dating Sybil.

this angers me .

elders who will not make shepherding calls to comfort their brothers and sisters but as soon as that brother or sister puts one little foot out of line those same f-----g (sorry about the language but it really angers me ) elders can not move fast enough to form a judicial committee and then are so unmerciful - it makes me want to vomit literally

People readily and easily judge you upon, the slightest suspicion.

Everything is conditional...it was harder to make true friends in the truth,than out. I had friends,but cliques abounded so much,it was like trying to get in the Italian Mob.

It can be a lonely place if you don't fit in with them......

RECENT REVISIONS TO THE KH DRESS CODE?

i was told by my former book-study conductor recently that a new 'dress code' had been handed down by the wts, because people had been 'getting too casual' with their styles of clothing.

one item he mentioed was a new rule for women prohibiting denim skirts.

and, when a woman wore a denim jacket, she was also told this was not appropriate for the kh.
