According to people who believe in God, there is death because of Adam and Eve's free will - and that God doesn't step in to stop terrible crimes because mankind has the free will to commit evil.
An earthquake isn't evil. It's caused because of friction between the Earth's tectonic plates; those plates have no free will. What happened in South-East Asia had nothing whatsoever to do with man's inhumanity to man, so I have a question for Christians or others who believe in an all-powerful creator:
Why did God *create* the Earth with built-in natural disaster time bombs?

They say they don't celebrate Xmas, but...???
by JH inevery year, on dec 25th, witnesses in our area gather at a book study group, and they have a dinner together.
although they say that they don't celebrate christmas, why do they gather on dec 25th like catholics do and share dinner together?
i'm sure that neighbors think that it's a christmas gathering.. i know that there isn't any christmas decorations there, or gifts being given, but i find it odd, that every year, some book study will organize a dinner on december 25th.

My mum's friend is a Muslim and her teenage sons were requested to spend from Friday prayers on Christmas Eve until Boxing Day at Mosque to make sure they weren't celebrating - the boys were having none of it!
I suppose this is similar, it's fellowship and a chance to prove you aren't celebrating (while having a celebration...) if someone is invited to the dinner and decline it's "Oooh, what better things did they have to do today...?" -

Opinions on Age of Baptismal Candidates
by redskymedic ini am sure i am not the only one that thinks it's ridiculous that they allow pre-teens and young teens to get baptized.
i know now that i did not have a full understanding of the implications of baptism.
i did it primarily because that's what was expected.

In a conversation with a newbie (last 5 years or so) JW he mentioned how he was glad he had known what he was doing when he got baptised because he appreciated what he was doing, unlike in infant baptism. I said "But primary school children get baptised." He replied "Oh, I don't think so." and I said "(Name) was 9 years old." He replied that he didn't know as he wasn't in then, but he looked quite surprised.

WOW, I'd heard of going on the ministry on Christmas Day - but that's just plain UNREASONABLE!!! :D Poor sods.
Find out who grassed you up and (if you can be bothered over the holiday of course!) have your revenge while they're off out worshippingThe BorgJehovah God. Tinsel. Lots and lots of tinsel.... -

Wearing a denim-like (denim patterned but actually not denim) skirt at the Kingdom Hall - I was four or five and my mum wasn't even baptised yet.
Putting my coat on the back of my chair in the Kingdom Hall instead of in the tiny cloakroom that was already full (plus I had my walkman in my pocket (long wait at bus-stop and then long bus-ride to hall) and I was worried someone's Bible-study might have been light-fingered...). I was about 13 and the elder yelled at me as if my mum wasn't there sitting right next to me!
Being in the brass band at school - because I should be doing personal study, not practising.
Watching Eastenders.
Wanting to go to university one day. -

*Counts on fingers*
Adding last year's figures to this year's baptisms and they should have broken 7 million.
Take off *this* year's number of publishers, and include this year's baptisms as publishers, and they're missing 266,959 faithful. They can't *all* have died... -

by truthseeker inif you wondered whether the society would print blood cards this year, they won't.
blood cards are out.. consider the box found on the december km, entitled "new provision to assist us to abstain from blood".
the governing body has approved combining the essential elements of the durable power of attorney (dpa) document and the advance.

Does this mean if something happened to a JW their non-JW relative wouldn't have any say in *any* care not just blood transfusions? What about turning off life support and stuff?
I hope they don't let my mum have one because she's been inactive for nealry 10 years or something.
