lets say you were inactive, and an elder came over to encourage you, and he saw that you have a computer, would you let him near it?

Her husband sounds like an absolute **** for not letting her family be there, etc . But we can't possibly know all the facts. The fact his life has been threatened by people claiming to be *against* killing.... erm.... *irony*!
I supported this poor lady being allowed to die, though the method that had to be used horrifies me (if only for the family having to watch her get emaciated).
Hopefully I'll never be in a situation like hers, but if I am I hope the government of the day is civilised enough to have legalised euthanasia.
The case in England which made my mind up about how I feel about the right to die was that of Tony Bland, a young man crushed in a football disaster in my home city. Link with info. -

OK, Yet Another Thread About the Memorial *good grief*
by catchthis inthere are umpteen threads about the memorial already.
did anyone else ever get a weird feeling as the emblems were passed?
even when i was a hardcore dub, i always had a strange feeling in my gut.

One of the brothers would one-step on the stage and hand the plate or glass to the speaker for a split second and then the speaker would hand it back immediately.
Yeah that's bizarre isn't it.
Looking back I always got a funny feeling in my gut too. -

The brainwashing around the "Schiavo" case...
by Brummie inup until this evening i had thought teresa schiavo was in an unconcious state, lying on a bed with just a machine keeping her alive.
how wrong was i?
i saw her smiling and showing awareness of her surroundings.

OK, if this is just her husband's cynical plot to be rid of her, why didn't he just dump her on her parents and walk away years ago? Why is he involved at all?

Total fluff-Ebay purchases and shipping charges
by CaptainSchmideo inhas anybody noticed the trend of a lot of sellers to lure you in with a low price, only to find, in very tiny print at the bottom, the cost of shipping "and handling" usually being as much as the product itself?
i have seen sellers charge $70.00 to send a "buy it now" item that costs $100.00.
insanity!.

I am an ebay newbie, but I've noticed this - I think some people set an unreasonably low start price or Buy It Now price then have expensive shipping so they still end up with a good price without having to pay too high ebay or paypal fees.

I live in (as far as the UK goes) a pretty rough and dangerous area - the local pub close to me has had some problems with drug dealers and gangs - including at least one shooting, and there have been two murders down the road so far this year.
But I've never wanted to have a gun (if I could), we don't even have a burglar alarm or lock our doors until gone 11pm.
If people buy guns for protection, but then have to keep them unloaded for safety, what is the point? If I needed a gun for protection it would be loaded and at hand at all times. But I can't imagine being terrified 24/7 in a civilised country.
The massacre at Dunblane was carried out with a legally-held handgun by a gunclub member - now you can't legally have a handgun AFAIK. Gun crime has gone up, but that's criminals for you - our kids don't shoot their brothers and sisters though.
Glitter, I suggest you get your story right, when did I say, "guns are designed to fire a bullet, that's all?" I don't own a gun, I have no objections to others owning a gun.
Where did I say that YOU said it? I said *don't* say it... it's what some pro-gun people claim guns are for. I suggest you calm down. -

Glitter, there's plenty of people being killed WITHOUT the use of guns, should we ban knives, how about our 'fists' which have killed people, should we cut them off? Killing is killing no matter what we use! What are knives and hands there for? What are *guns* designed to do? (And don't give me that "guns are designed to fire a bullet, that's all" crap).

Guns don't killl people, blah blah blah...

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE TERRI SCHIAVO CASE?
by Mary inthere is apparently no chance at all of her ever recovering from her present state, but do you think she should live or die?
for myself, i think she's better off dead than living---no, existing---in her present state.
i for one, have instructed my family to let me die if something like this ever happened to me.

There are fates worse than death, but I would rather not starve to death. So if I'm ever in her very sad position, I hope someone just gives me an overdose... I don't understand why they can't do that for her.

13%. I didn't answer the car question (don't drive) so dunno how that affected my score.
My mum - inactive but still a believer - came out at only 47%! hehe
