  i was born in 1965, the same year that malcolm x was assassinated.

  my father had committed suicide a few months into my mother's pregnancy so we lived with her parents until she married again when i was about 18 months old.

  My heart was in my mouth when they woke her to check she wasn't paralysed. Such a relief that she was OK.
  
  I see they rolled out the CellSaver... shows the WTBS and their followers as such awkward *pedants* that they allow that but not pre-donation.
  
  
  I watched this with my JW family. My brother's comments on the girl going to the McFly comment 'She doesn't seem that spiritual really.'

  He had a point though, perhaps - the girl was allowed to be very "worldly" and non-JW-like, yet the pushy and bossy (mini-skirt wearing!) mum was putting her *life* on the line. That she was willing to die for the Society was the only "JW" thing about her! I hope she's really not spiritual and we see her here one day. :)

  im interested in hearing what your personal reaction would be if (i say if because probably 99.9% here believe this will never happen) all the religions of the world were to be suddenly banned/shut down/decommissioned/liquidated/dismembered/etc.. by the political powers of the world.

  would it change your view of jehovah...of the "org"?

  If religion was banned in my country I'd join the faithful in peaceful protests. I'd much prefer people discovered their religion was nonsense for themselves than anyone ban it.

  How old was the oldest person you saw baptized at a convention?

  i bring this up because there was a 91-year-old woman baptized at the rome convention a couple of weeks ago.. was there someone that old (or close to being 91 years old) immersed at a convention you went to?

  1989 or 1990 at the Hellaby assembly hall, an old man in his mid 90s got baptised. He was really frail and doddery - and wore a wetsuit and goggles.

  i was on a mad-dash daytrip to edinburgh today, and in the morning we were up on the royal mile.

  being the fringe we quickly attracted about eight trees' worth of advertising.

  most of the people flyering were dressed in costumes or in t-shirts advertising the shows, but some were in ordinary clothes.

  I was on a mad-dash daytrip to Edinburgh today, and in the morning we were up on the Royal Mile. Being the Fringe we quickly attracted about eight trees' worth of advertising.
  
  Most of the people flyering were dressed in costumes or in t-shirts advertising the shows, but some were in ordinary clothes. I didn't think it too odd when a young blonde woman dressed smart-casual handed me a flyer with a pic of Einstein on it, *but* we'd only gone a foot away when "L. Ron Hubbard" leapt out at me in the text! I shoved it back into her hands with a really stern "I don't want this." followed by a "NO!" staring her dead in her glazed swivelly eyes, and in the same tone of voice I'd use to tell a bad dog off! :D
  
  I just found it incredibly rude that they'd be targetting tourists that way by trickery. OK, the other people wanted me to consider spending a few quid on their shows, but they didn't want to brainwash, bankrupt, blackmail and kill me!
  
  Of course as soon as I was away I had one of those "staircase moment" things (there's a word... in German?) and wished I'd said something more, but they probably thought I was rammed full of Thetans and Engrams as it was!
  
  Anyone here actually spoken to a Scientologist?
  
  (Then we went to the Ron Mueck exhibition which was beyond awesome.)

  JW gets saved at the flea market.

  this video is about 12 minutes long.

  a young woman that says in the very beginning that she is a jw, is stopped at the flea market and witnessed to by someone that is encourging her to be 'born again'.

  at the end of the video he prays with her and she accepts jesus as her savior.. the video says they are in raleigh nc maybe someone will reconize her.
