I'm going to a birthday party!
by glitter inmy mum's best friend's daughter's 18th in november, and i'm definitely going and my sister probably is (she's out at the moment)!
she didn't have a birthday party until this one because with me and my little sis being jw it meant two less people to go (we're more family than friends) so she missed out on birthday parties too and she wasn't even jw!.
i just need to think of the perfect present to make up for all those years.. it official that i'm not a jw now if i go and it's a bit scary because 100% not wanting to be a jw has happened so suddenly (after finding everything out about the scandals, i was about 90% out before) - i didn't celebrate my birthday in june and i didn't celebrate my friend's birthday the week after and now i can't wait for christmas and for june to roll around again.. i'm so excited!!

My sister came home and I told her and she said she definitely wants to go! Mum says she can't come though, but I hope she does. She's not being funny about us going at all!
I don't know if I can sing Happy Birthday though, or even say it, it might be *too* too weird to do that.

There was this spider....
by Mimilly in.... that would easily cover a quarter on my wall.
now, i don't mind the arachnid critters outside, but when they cross that boundary into my home, they're fair game.
if they are camped out on my window sill outside, i'll even name them - but not in my bedroom.

We've been getting huge spiders here (north of England) , *really* big ones with big fat bodies and looooong legs.
If there's one in the room and I can't find someone to move it, a cat doesn't eat it, or if it's on a wall so I can't throw a catalogue on it, out comes the hoover.
Not a fan of spiders.

brutalized toddlers
by little witch indoes anyone remember the advice from from the stage, encouraging mothers to remove babies from the room when they were hungry?.
how about, wooden spoons to beat toddlers into submission, preferably in front of the congegation, as to set an example in disipline?
was this just in our hall, or was it from the borg?

When I was about 6 and my sister was very small and we were in the foyer/cloakroom inside the women's loos during the song in the middle of the Sunday meeting and one of mum's JW friends (part of a very large and very well known JW family in my city) had been hitting and shaking her little girl (about a year old) just while she was talking to mum like nothing was happening - mum was really uncomfortable and trying to calm the sister down and I was standing in front of the baby as she was crying and screaming and I was trying to tickle her and make her laugh because it was absolutely heartbreaking.

Right, so is God powerless or evil?
If you believe that God made the universe he's certainly not powerless...
And *why* did God make us in the first place? Why did he make it possible to sin? We wouldn't *know* if we didn't have free will would we? At least if there wasn't free will there wouldn't be suffering.

i've just been thinking about something as i drove past the kingdom hall near where i work.
it has absolutely no windows.

My cong's current one has no windows, but the previous one (built in the 80's, boundaries changed so other congs use it now) had windows about 8 ins by 2ft that were 1.5m apart.
I don't buy the vandalism excuse for the new one because:
a) the old hall was on a housing estate and it never had a problem (AFAIK) with vandals smashing the windows, spray painting on the walls or destroying plants despite the fact that the fence was only 3/4 of the way around and the wall to the car park was less than 3ft high.
b) the churches around here still have their large stained glass windows intact and they just have them covered with thin grilles to protect them. And huuuuuge windows like that have got to be much more tempting than little ones.

How did you view your congregation?

when i was in my congregation i found it to be a very selfish self spirited congregation,i also found many witnesses to be very easily offended and hyper sensitive oh and i forgot the gossip ohh the gossip was horrendous, this hyper sensitivity really got on my nerves because it was starting to rub off on me and i started to get paranoid and easily offended and i was never like that b4.. and what pi@@ed me off was the fact how brothers on the stage said how loving our congregation was and what a good reputation it was known to have.. but now i have left and im back to my down to earth happy personality.
