If you stick to the rule: one sheet up, one sheet down, one to polish, it's s.easier to keep a tally if "over". Economy in all things. If you are affluent enough not to have to count, let your butler convey it to you on a silver tray. -

Did Taze ever really go away?
by woodforde inas a recent wbts watcher (i am writing a thesis on "cults", not limited to jw's but they are a true gold-mine to research), i notice that the planning for their proposed new factory near chelmsford has been submitted in the name of the international bible students association.
surely a legal "deev" of some sort.
does anyone have any views, derived from experience, arcane knowledge or good ol' conspiracy theory - doesn't matter which!

As a recent WBTS watcher (I am writing a thesis on "cults", not limited to JW's but they are a true gold-mine to research), I notice that the planning for their proposed new factory near Chelmsford has been submitted in the name of the International Bible Students Association. Surely a legal "deev" of some sort. Does anyone have any views, derived from experience, arcane knowledge or good ol' conspiracy theory - doesn't matter which! Forgive me if this is under a wrong topic heading but the most appropriate that I could find.

Yay!
or your children may have to die for the organizations teaching
64-page booklet titled Preparing for Child Custody Cases Show that you are a loving and caring parent who wants the best medical care possible for your child. ...You do not want to give the impression that your religion requires you to allow your child to die should a medical emergency arise. (pp. 5, 55)
A refusal to gave a blood transfusion"she would have a chance for the new earth. Stated bluntly, better to die now maintaining integrity. (Awake 1951 May 22 p. 5)
"In view of the seriousness of taking blood into the human system by a transfusion, would violation of the Holy Scriptures in this regard subject the dedicated, baptized receiver of blood transfusion to being disfellowshiped from the Christian congregation?" "The inspired Holy Scriptures answer yes." (Watchtower, January 15, 1961, p. 63)
"Similarly, God's command to 'abstain from blood' rules out ingesting it by the mouth as well as through injections into the veins. Furthermore, the Bible makes it clear that the divine law was not to be ignored even during an emergency that could threaten life. (1 Sam. 14:31-35) Many of God's approved servants have been willing to face dangers and even death rather than violate Scriptural principles..." (Watchtower, June 15, 1978, p.24)

No such thing as history
by woodforde inwhy do you think it is that wts limit accessibility to watchtowers and awakes to only issues since year 2000 on jworg?
a whiff of something slightly orwellian?
not a case of re-writing history but nixing it altogether?

Well, I looked in vain for a comprehensive cd on jworg, old hippy but came across their latest splurge on how well the jovwits are doing in the Dominican Republic, with some "history". Those, who have read "Crisis of Conscience" by Ray Franz, the "apostate" member of the Governing Body, will recall that he and his wife spent several years there, dodging muck and bullets during the hostile Trujillo years and whom I would assess as being a courageous man. There are photos of Frederick Franz, who was WT President at the time, (Ray's uncle), down from Brooklyn on a schmoozing visit but not a dicky-bird about Ray. Air-brushed. There never was a Ray. -

Why do you think it is that WTS limit accessibility to Watchtowers and Awakes to only issues since year 2000 on JWorg? A whiff of something slightly Orwellian? Not a case of re-writing history but nixing it altogether? Can't be an issue of band-width because such files take up only micro-gibbles. You'd think that Jah's Organisation would be prouder of its record than that! -

A woman has a blood transfusion during pregnancy. This blood, obviously, now constitutes the unborn child's circulation. Kid gets born, becomes of age and wants to become a jw. Is this possible, seeing as his system is tainted with transfused blood, i.e., the "life force" of another creature? The gb now decrees the accepting of blood to be a matter of conscience (Could all flip-flop yet again). Was the child able to exercise conscience while in the womb? How many jw's are walking around today, blissfully unaware of their apostasy? Is there a question about this on the application form? Not being a Jovwit myself, merely interested in this type of daftness. Thankyou.
