last night we were coming home from a night of dancing,and came upon a really bad wreck, a young man, had flipped his jeep, several times and his car was on fire.
we must have just missed the wreck, because there were two cars there that saw it and they didnt know what to do......i told my hubby as we stopped to see if anyone had called 911 yet, and asked him to ask if anyone needed first aid.
i am not in the medical field but i know enough first aid to help until the emt arrived.
thanks for sharing this with us, from time to time we all need to hear. "slow down". Do something in your life that you can sit back and say I've accomplished something that makes me feel good and by it, it made someone else feel worthwhile.

WE two have read it. I often stayed up late to read it, & like you I could not put it down. Jerry had had it hidden away from us for awhile and after date-line aired it was out in the open for all to see. I didn't pick it up right away, Why? well ,you know, it's apostate literature that good little witnesses are not suppose to read. I was intriqued that it came from someone who had been at every level. So curiosity took over and I was so p.o'd at how they treated the "friends" in the Malawai/Mexico chapter that I pretty much quite going to meetings after that. It's coming up on a year already and we have NO regrets.
His other book In Search Of Christian Freedom is also beneficial.

you all know i just lost my first baby through miscarriage and that my mum was supportive through out the whole ordeal... well it didn't last.
she called me last night and informed me that there had been a committee meeting held and that the elders had decided due to the circumstances that they would disfellowship me.
Congrats Kelpie on this one. At least they wern't knocking on your door trying to set up a judicial meeting where they ask you all kinds of intimate details. Those creeps have done it to others.

After many years of avoiding watching Sylvia Browne, I've now been paying attention as to what she's all about. I went out and bought her book, Life On The Other Side. She relates her own near death experience and numerous others as well as information her spiritual guide gives her as to what happens at death and beyond.
IT'S absolutely Wonderful, after the tunnel it's a true paradise and she states that we have been there before. It's Home. She also tells that our birth is far more tramatic than our death. Of course if your one of those people who are rotten to the core there's something in store for you as well, and it ain't all that pretty.One needs to believe in God and do good.

I know what the bible says and all I can say is I have to find someone that knows or can read Greek as to what they mean when they say they are conscious of nothing, or they know nothing. Could it mean, Pain? I don't know. When it talks about having no more wages and in other translations, no further reward. The NIV reference states: That the dead have lost all opportunity in this life for enjoyment and reward from labor.

it's been several days since I've been on and I just now saw this, I AM SO SORRY to hear this, many of us were so excited for you and now we share your sorrow. I don't know if there are any words that can give you the comfort you need. They say time heals. Somewhat and True, I miscarried 16 years ago and I still think about the little person I lost, who they might of looked like, if it had been a girl or boy. When I get to the other side, I will know and possibly see him/her as God gives us the desires of our heart. Information that I read all said to wait at least 3 months, I am not one to wait. I wanted to get pregnant again and did so after a cycle. It didn't replace the loss but it brought me new joy.

the question here is a general one, and i am sure that there are exceptions.. did elders have more than others in terms of material possesions?.
my experience was that they did.
the majority of elders i knew had money, or at least good jobs, and were in the top income brackets at least in the hall if not compared to most.. i am not saying they were rich, but better off than most.
I think it is just a matter of how much money you have, (the more you have the more your spend) or it may be how you were brought up. I've known those who have their own construction business, nice houses, cars and treat the brothers they hire like dung. Then there are the ones who don't have a lot but have to make a buck by buying something to turn around and sell it at a higher price. What money they did make, they didn't invest in any retirement because the WTS says the "end is near".

i haven't been an active witness for 8 years, and my family and i celebrate bdays and thanksgiving and a couple other holidays (i can't do halloween or christmas, nothing to do with being an ex-wit, i just have personal issues with those).
i know they will be devastated, might cut me off.
Hi Freedom, I agree with DJ, we seem to think alike on several points. (hi DJ)
once they know your feelings they may try even harder to change your mind possibly calling on elders for advice or having someone local stop by to do so. If you have to bite your tongue now just think how depressed you may feel every time you visit them and they feel they have to "adjust your thinking". Is your husband a JW? If he isn't then it will be easier to say, "this is how he feels" when it comes to raising your children and what you choose to celebrate. (throw in the submissive wife issue) I know several who have that have had to make a turkey dinner or visit in-laws around the holidays because they wanted to keep their hubby happy and the family balanced.
until then, whatever the conversasion is, maybe ask point blank questions on what their thoughts are on a particular subject. Be ready yourself to have a solid answer or step back and watch the wheels turn in their heads as their thinking process starts.

two that come to my mind,
the first one is an elder in a loveless marriage, he stands to inherit a large sum of money, the PI hired to look into his background discovered that the two are not legally married. Don't have an udate since we left about a year ago.
the second one is a mother of two, married to a great guy. She thought the grass or hay was better on the other side, ripped the family apart, got a divorce, the boy friend dumped her after she wanted a commitment from him. The woman married to the elder in the above paragraph has been after the guy in paragraph two. sometimes I think the WTS could have their own soap opera titled:
