So, if I copy my current WTLib CD and send it to you as a gift, only ask for a donation, and try to get you to study the information carefully, would that make me a good dub, an apostate for giving you the real truth, or a criminal for violating copyright law?????????????????????????????????????? Ok, let's just trade your original for mine (I'll just make a backup!)

Asked every question I could think of when we first started studying. Finally our study-guide (an elder) asked me, "If I tell you nine things that prove to be true, shouldn't you expect the tenth to be true?" Told him that was reasonable but if just one of those "truths" were proven false, I'd have to re-examine all the others. That's what happened! In my case it was the misrepresentations of quotes made by scientists in the Creation Books, that proved to be the "truth" that was a lie. My examination of the other "truths" proved too much for me to stay. I hate lies, being lied to, and then watching those who should be apologizing and publishing retractions, instead, attack the character of the one's who expose those lies.
Add to that the child abuse cover-up...not that the abuse happened, not that the action taken in the past was totally wrong (I, nor anyone here can change the past), but the inappropriate and complete total lack of Christian love for those abused and those persecuted for the exposure of the past wrongs; the proverbial final straw. I'm out, my family is out, and I'll do everything in my power to get others out.
Back to meditation....gotta mellow....happy thoughts....make a happy post...

Why should they report?
by Country Girl ini know this is gonna earn me a bad rep.. but i think it needs to be brought up.
i am just playing the devils advocate here.
why should there be a remedy of punitive damages for jw's that bring up the spectre of child abuse when the law doesn't require that ministers go to the law to report?
-
BadJerry
Yes, that they don't report is the issue. And the issue of not reporting has nothing to do with respect for the law or respect for their God, but its respect for their poctebook. In my final discussion with an elder (taped of course), he stated that if he lived in a state where the clergy weren't required to report he wouldn't. He said the reason was that he and the WT could and probably would be sued. That's plain wrong! Man this subject gets my blood boiling every time I hear or read about it.

question on friendship
by Vivamus insomeone just recently told me his opinion on friendship.
and now i am wondering what your thoughts are.
what defines friendship?.
-
BadJerry
A true friend (my example) - someone who, because of being " of the world" and you being part of the wts, you don't talk to for 10 years...time goes by - you escape the "borg"...you make contact with friend from the past and he says "no apologies necessary, let's talk Sunday". Hey that's today and IMHO that's what friendship is all about!

D you meditate?
by Lost Diamond ini went to a seminar yesterday for work on how to manage stress.
the speaker was great...he is dr. mees, author of "wake up, america".. he stated how our diet, exercise, and meditation are very important for our own health.
he described the damage cocaine does to the heart muscles, which cannot be repaired and compared it to the damage stress does as well.

I do different forms of meditation each day. Keeps my head on straight ( and its been twisted around like on the Exorcist movie more time than anyone cares to remember). I mainly have been focusing on "Mindfulness" the last few months. If you want to email me directly, I can send you an ebook (pdf) that explains this and may help you alittle in this life's journey.

Here's what caused me to make for the exit (I converted myself and family into the WTS):
A young witness father was telling me how his father had died because he refused a blood transfusion. I my mind I'm thinking, "that's OK he's an adult and knew what would happen...". Then he tells me he'd never allow anyone to give him blood, give his wife blood, or give his children ANY form of a blood transfusion, even if it meant they would die. The look in his eyes when he said that. I knew in the deepest part of my heart, mind and soul, this was completely and absolutely wrong. No doubt. I knew I could never let my child die, but I had a signed blood card (ask your friend about it - see it and read it) which meant I could be dead because of this policy... no dad for my three boys, no husband for my wife. Tore the card up the moment he left my office.
There is a dark side within the Watchtower organization. Its darker than anything you can imagine, but it can and does seduce you into believing its the only "truth". Don't be dragged in; instead, take his hand and pull him out, if you care that deeply for him. That organization truly can cost him his life.
Must meditate and calm down now....

All the songs mentioned sound great...put on a CD or cassette (whichever works in your car), roll down the windows, crank up the volume, and go get 'em. Imanaliento, dear wife, got me going on doing something so made sure the Omaha World Herald got the word about the march on the 27th...(they even responded to the email for clarification of the date - old grey-haired fat finger typist here). Anyone in Omaha NE want to do the lamb thing?????

Near Death experiences- the scoop by CNN
by kelsey007 inap) --
a study suggests the oft-reported sensation of leaving the body during a brush with death may have a simple explanation in the body itself.. these "out-of-body" and "near-death" experiences -- in which people resuscitated on the operating table speak of being drawn toward a brilliant light, or looking down on their own bodies -- may be influenced by a portion of the brain misfiring under stress, the study suggests.
the paper describes one patient's visions while she was being evaluated for epilepsy and does not wrestle with issues of the soul.

"Bummed me out" at first, but then I thought of a really neat invention. The "floating above the bed" stimulator. I bet I could sell a million. Any brain surgeons here????????

?to attack or let go?
by happysunshine indo you think it is better to just live and let live with family that are witnesses, or will not confronting them with their beliefs come back to haunt you?

Argue or debate is just a waste of time........that won't change anything. On the other hand, planning, plotting, conspiring and de-programming, that to me is the only way to proceed. Takes work and imagination to level-set the playing field, but that's what I did! And, we are ALL out.
