My sister lost a son when he was 17 from a drunk driver. Even tho she was blessed with a son and a daughter and now 5 grandchildren she said you never get over the one you lose. I went back to Maryland for 6 months and got to know my nephews and niece this was in the 70s and I had so much fun with Jimmy. he died after I came back to Ca. I have always been so grateful that I went there and got to know Jimmy. It hurt even tho I was the aunt and had never lost one of my own but I think of Jimmy and his smile and his laugh. He was such a great kid.

What are your reasons for not joining another religion?
by MARTINLEYSHON ini am going to start this debate of by saying that those of us who were raised in the so called truth, and i being one of them, can only come to terms with our past by accepting that our parents infected our minds like a virus infects a computer.
we wouldn't categorise children according to their parents' political stance, since they are too young to make up their minds about such matters.
but they (jw) segregate them from the world.

I didnt have to join a church. Calvary chapel churches you dont join . If you go to their church you are a member. Thats where I really learned the scriptures, the truth and the Love of Jesus. I now have a close personal relationship with Jesus.

Could the JW's be in "survival mode"?
by JH ini notice that they don't preach much door to door anymore.
i'm not the only one who notices this around here.. i was just wondering if they reached a point where they can't bring anyone to the org.
anymore, so all that counts for them is to keep going to their meetings and wait for armageddon.

Here they set up a table in front of the grocery store. I hate to see them because my daughter will go and talk to them. They threaten to call the police on her. Sometimes they yell at her dont you pull your bible out. Shes very good at talking to them . What a gift she has for it. When she brought up the UN deal they really got upset. It wasnt long they packed up their stuff and left.My daughter got this one man really upset and she told him look it up on the internet. We have never seen that man again there so we are hoping maybe it made him go home and look the info up and started him thinking. Hopefully we can touch peoples lives and help them change for a better life . Oh the reason I dont like to see them cause I am tired and just want to shop and get home and my daughter can talk for a long time. LOL God Bless Audrey

What charities and clubs do you enjoy NOW, that you could not before?
by whyizit ini couldn't help but notice how one of my jw friends always shows interest in some of the things we are involved with.
my husband is the leader of a boy's club at our church, we have study groups on books of the bible (using the bible only, no guides or other books), we donate gifts to children in our area and abroad, we support wycliff bible translators and personally have friends that are in remote areas of the world translating bibles into languages that are unknown to most of the world, we try to help in any area that we feel led by the lord.
i asked our jw friend why he doesn't approach his congregation or elders and ask if he could start an out-reach for kids.

When 1975 didnt bring an end to this system I started thinking I need a job that pays better plus I had 3 surgeries during that time but as soon as I was well I tried getting on at Phone co. The last time I stepped foot in a kingdom hall was after I started work.This JW said to me you cannot work at phone co. you wont be able to go to meetings. I said when the JWS buy tires for my car help with my expenses and pay auto insurance for me which they are not going to do dont tell me I cannot work for phone co. I walked out and never went back. Anyway back to the subject I now had extra money to donate to charities. I am for kids and animals so I donated to childhelp for abused children, I also gave to Greenpeace, and animal shelters. Now that I am on fixed income I put money in at stores for different causes and now that I go to church I give there too. Also buy girl scout cookies and also candy. I also give a little to elephant place in Tenn. for abused circus elephants I just love elephants.Giving makes me feel better even if its only a dollar. Every little bit helps Love audrey

by jwfacts ini have been busy on ebay the last couple of weeks, and am finding it really addictive.
i know a lot of jws that go crazy using ebay all the time.. i have worked out why ebay is so popular.
for buyers it combines the shopping addiction many have with the element of buying things on special.. selling on ebay is gambling.

dont they think about the things they are buying could have demons? They are not keeping their selves away from worldly people.When I was JW we were warned about buying from thrift stores and yard sales.Of course I loved thrift stores so I went anyway.What a silly religion.
