Ouija Boards
by StinkyPantz inwell, i was talking on the phone to my best friend and we started talking about aliens, spirits, etc.
and eventually we got around to discussing the ouija board.
since i was raised a jw and have only been out a year, the ouija board was of course forbidden and even a little scary.

Believers and their "Free Will" Dogma
by JT inone of the most interesting dogmas found among believers is the concept called free will- on the surface it starts out sounding reasonable, until you start the ask questions and listen to the explanations that are given , after awhile you realize it has no legs to stand on.
we are told by believers that god allows each person to make thier own choice and we are not robots and therefore we are able to exercise free will, the only problem is when you ask the question, what about when someone exercises thier free will and it harms someone else, why would a loving god allow someone the free will to hurt someone innocent, at that point free will sounds more like an excuse to give god a bye in terms of having to do anything- i read this posters comment and i couldn't for the life of me see any logic or reasonablness behind the concept of free will when folks get hurt like this person has-.
one of my earliest memories is of my grandfather raping me.

Free will is that spark of thought. It comes with consciousness. it gives us the ability to choose our path. For those of you who still hold to a belief in a creator then you probably are aware of why we are in such a deprived state. We were not given a fair chance in the beginning. Satan in his rebellion decided to use us as bait in his evil plan of rebellion. He too had the ability to choose and unfortunately took the path without God. We are living in that aftermath. I look forward to be given the chance in the future to prove my ability to choose wisely without the chains of human imperfection and evil binding me. I look forward to a world without evil and imperfection. Is this impossible? I choose to take a chance.... unless someone has a better idea to fix all this.

I too grew up in the faith. I am the only one in my entire that is not baptised. My major was in religious philosophy with a minor in psychology. I have a worldly education with one degree in the abstract and the other based in science. My faith in God has not waivered even though I am no longer in the faith. I don't require empirical data to justify my belief in a creator. And because of my background in psychology, I understand that there will be people with different personalities styles that perceive the world around them differently. It's just been my belief and understanding that a middle ground exists between science and religion. To assume that I am in error simply because my set of "numbers" don't add up logically to some man-made data set is false. How many times must we, those of us that hold to an almighty creator, hear that our belief is outdated or illogical because the data just isn't there to prove it. If it turns out in the end that God doesn't exists then I took a chance to believe. I hope i'm right....Aren't we all betting on some kind of relative truth? Nothing is 100%. If it was then we wouldn't be having this conversation right?

Writes Armstrong, "Nimrod was so evil, it is said he married his own mother, whose name was Semiramis. After Nimrod's untimely death [other legends say it was at the hands of Shem! - ed], his so-called mother-wife, Semiramis, propagated the evil doctrine of the survival of Nimrod as a spirit being. She claimed a full-grown evergreen tree sprang overnight from a dead tree stump, which symbolized the springing forth unto new life of the dead Nimrod. On each anniversary of his birth, she claimed, Nimrod would visit the evergreen tree and leave gifts upon it. December 25th was the birthday of Nimrod. This is the real origin of the Christmas tree.

If your brought up extremely religious, and then your kicked out of the church only to be told that there's no hope for you and yet you still hold to a belief ---then your faith in the only God you know can be quite painful. Yet do you lash out at God, or the corrupt org? Most people will disgard their faith in God! When they should be dumping the institution.
