  Do you let JW's make you feel insignificant?

  i have read so many posts and topics about how people are treated after leaving the org.

  so i would like to share with you my take on this.. i cannot help but notice that most people seem to feel that they are looked down upon by the jw's.

  whether it be from shunning: a mean look,comments, avoiding someone etc... i can honestly say that i have never felt this way, and i have run into several jw's since i left.

  I totally agree that they are the little people.

  I go out of my way to recognize them and make them feel uncomfortable...after all it is there rule to shun me not mine.

  I wear my aposto gear....have anti-jw stickers on my car....

  I go out of my way to demonstate that I am happy, successful...LOVED....not miserable and alone like they would like to believe.

  Got elected as a town selectman...passed an ordinance on saluting the flag at public events and meetings as well as another requiring religious groups to register with the Police when they planned on going door to door in town....I think a DO NOT KNOCK list sort of like the SPAM and Phone sales call laws is next where people could ask to be put on the list and forbid people from going to their house ! LOL

  We have the one thing they'll never have......FREEDOM....and with freedom and free thinking comes POWER.

  What would be different ?

  next time you are walking down your main street....or go to your favorite store or restaurant...or go to your doctor or dentist.....or to your kid's school or city hall or the local golf course....or maybe your favorite vacation spot...... think like a guy/gal in a wheelchair for a minute............. is your town accessible ?

  are there ramps or steps into buildings ?

  if you had to use a wheelchair...could you do the things you do now ?.

  Thanks FMZ....thats exactly what I'm looking for. Hoping to have folks use that new perspective to see what things might be like for people with disabilties in their towns.

  My case is a birth defect so it is all that I have ever know.....not a big deal really.

  Thanks for your concern but I am more interested in how other communities are as far as access for people with disabilties....some places I visit are wonderful to get around in while others are nearly impossible....

  Forgiveness, How Far Do You Take It?

  has it ever happened to you, something so dispicable you would rather go to your grave, not having forgiven someone a wrong they had done you, hopeful that god would sort it out in the end?

  mind you, i know things like child molestation, rape and murder are things for which it is difficult, if not impossible, to be forgiving of.

  that being said, where does one draw the line on forgiveness?

  I came home from work many years back to find my roomate/best friend and my girlfriend in bed together. Now they were not doing it to conserve body heat or for any other nobel purpose, it was pure unadulterated monkey love.

  Needless to say I was less than happy.....ok... I was B*** S*** !!!!

  We all talked and it was clear that I was out and he was in..(literally - LOL)......so I moved out of the apartment that he and I shared. A few years late I met my now wife and realized that the incident had actually been a blessing since I would have never met her otherwise...and forgiveness was easy then.

  That was nearly 20 years ago and they have been P***ed at me ever since. I guess they were mad that I moved out or something. Personally I think I had more reason to be mad than they did but oh well... I saw the girl last week and we actually had a decent conversation...maybe forgiveness has finally come to them too...

  If you HAD TO use a wheelchair...could you do the things you do now ?

  What would you be excluded from ? How would it effect you and your family ?

  Could you ride the local bus ?

  What would be different in your life if you were on wheels ?

  I know how things are in my town but it is interesting to hear how accessible (Or Not) things are across the country or in other countries.

  A possible way to get JWs info w/out incriminating oneself?

  i have an idea on how to get information in a way that won't get you identified ... i wanted to put it to this forum for scrutiny before i actually put it into practice.

  i am on several people's jw spam list.

  .meaning they constantly send me the same things that go around in other circles, like the "send this to five friends" or they send the scriptures for the week's book study, or they send a "jws in the news" article or something like that.

  I love the idea but really feel strongly that in order to get them to not simply discard it then it has to look like a pro-jw letter.

  The message must be so subtle that they don't even recognize it but it plants the smallest little seed of doubt or question in their minds.

  As soon as they suspect that it is not genuine then it is over and they will block any further messages and tip everyone else off that they know.

  You've gotten me thinking now....*grin*....writing and re-writing.....has to have just enough sappy dub-isms and mindless org drivel to not raise suspicion.

  Sunny.....I remember that family in New Hampshire too....come to our congo for awhile...took like a couple of months before the elders found out who they actually were...by then everyone thought they were wonderful...and then the big announcement came...LOL...OOOOPS....not so wonderful after that.

  There is a book that I read whenever I get the travel bug called "Blue Highways" it is by William Least Heat Moon and chronicles a trip he took in a van across the US along the two lane rural highways. He recalls passing through a small Vermont town and being hassled by the cops while he was sleeping....as it turns out it was the town I was working in at that time.

  It is a good book but gives you a real bad case of wanderlust....
