how do you get ahead in the org?

a question: how does an elder move ahead?

what i mean is my father has been an elder for over 20 years and as far as i know he has never been offered any high profile jobs, co etc, never gotten to give the big talks at assemblies, etc, i was just wondering is there some type of politics that goes along with it?

You're assuming that Jehovah cannot influence the vote one way or another. The vote is not taken by men that are uninformed, they research the matter before voting.

I see. So when the GB voted against organ transplants it was Jehovah who influenced their decision! Right, so when a number of JWs died over a seven year period and then the GB reversed its decision and allowed organ transplants that decision also emanated from Jehovah!

Do you see the problem here, SoJ? If Jehovah influenced the first decision he caused numerous people's deaths. If Jehovah didn't influence the GB then it is not guided by holy spirit and is a fraud! So who got it wrong? Jehovah or the GB?

OK, in light of my last post, just above yours here, could you please tell us how you cannot possibly fear God's anger if Hell-fire is the lot of all those who don't accept Christ? Are Buddhists, Muslims, Hindus, etc., damned to Hell? Am I when, for no fault of my own, some bastard organisation screwed my family and I up? Is an academic to go to Hell because all he/she did was search for truth through, for example, archaeology and historical studies (and who could blame them with all the religious crap that's taught!). I'd be seriously interested in your thoughts here.

According to this, one could be the most altruistic, loving and humane person on the planet - but if you don't accept Christ as Lord and Saviour one is damned to Hell. That's as bad as the teachings of the Watchtower.

what do you thibnk of the christian message as compared to jw message, both are ruled by fear aren't they?

if you don't love jehovah you will die at armageddon, if you don't love christ you won't go to heaven you'll go to hell.

the general view of Bible commentators is that Hebrews was not written by Paul, (it's just not known who the author was), Revelation is an apocalyptic book (as is Daniel)

The point I'm making is that if so many books in the Bible are spurious (ALL OF THEM!) then how can a BA say he/she is being guided by Christ/God/Holy Spirit? The entire Bible has its roots in Egypt and is a collection of fables.

As a true non-christian, I don't just "know that I can NOT make that judgement", I in fact, have decided most assuredly that Buddhist, Muslim, Hindu's etc. are NOT damned. Now that's freedom, my friends, and that is also equality. I not only don't "judge" gay people as being damned, I'm damned sure thier not! You wouldn't believe how nice a feeling that is. We all tend to make judgements, I love that I can make the loving judgement (of deciding that other peoples, other types, are just as ok as those I grew up around) w/o any fear that I'm going against the big pappa.

I'll drink to that!
