Hi Jim,
This was an extremely interesting report. Thank you.
As BRCI = Bible Research and Commentary International, is there the possibility that you'll be having meetings in Europe, and especially Britain?
Dansk
for those not familiar with brci, it was founded to assist ex-jws to readjust themselves as former jws.
it is not abouit bashing the watchtower religion.
brci itself is not a religion and does not try to get people to leave the jws, nor does it lead people to any religious organization.

'abraham, the jewish patriarch, probably never existed.
nor did moses.
Believing the Biblical stories are not historical events does not interfere with the lessons the story conveys.
Gary,
That's true, of course, but it's when everything in the Bible is considered sacrosanct it gets a wee bit galling. Let's face it, we wouldn't be here on this forum had our lives not been affected by our being told the Bible is truly the word of God.
For anyone interested, 'A short History of the Bible' by Bronson C. Keeler, first published in the 1800s but now reprinted and available from Amazon, is a real eye-opener. Be prepared, you'll never look at a Bible in the same way ever again!

you ever have one of those things that happen to you that just leaves you speechless.
well the other day one of my best friends (someone i have known for years) told me that they might have cancer.
they have a tumor in their leg that just changed size as well as a small lump in their arm.
Hi Spice,
Sorry to hear about your friend. The word 'cancer' is enough to give anyone the wobbles. It doesn't sound good now that the lymph nodes under the arm are swelling - but one never knows!
A friend of ours died of breast cancer just a few months back, she was only 38. All you can say is that, whatever happens, you'll always be there for them. People aren't stupid and so it's best to be straight with your feelings. Knowing you'll be there all the time is often all they need. Your friend certainly needs you more than ever now. It's good to go places together and in everything act normal. Do normal things together as often as possible.
Another friend, who also had breast cancer, had her breast removed and went on to live more than twenty years. She eventually died in her 60s of some completely unrelated illness.
So, here's hoping, Spice.
Love to you and your friend,

i'll let you know right now, i've got a big soft spot for animals.
(except spiders) .
kittens especially.
Great story, Mike.
The lady who'd spotted the cat in the first place offered to adopt it and gave her number. Will put the kitten up safely back in the break room and called the lady. When she came to pick the kitten up and Will opened up the cabinet he'd put the kitten in, it was sitting there calm as can be licking itself and it was very friendly.
The lady who was driving the Tahoe was so happy she bought us all lunch. She spent over $60 bucks to bring us pizza and drinks!
And well done the two ladies!
Personally, while loving all animals, I'll take a dog over a cat any day. I've found dogs to be more loyal and definitely more obedient. I've had dogs that would die for me they were so loving, but cats...........

Hi Rebel,
Well, you know how I feel - I still don't think you should attend. I wouldn't play their little games anymore - but please know that I'm behind you whatever you decide!
Love,

the first known mention of yahweh outside the bible is from certain inscriptions at khirbet al-qom and kuntillet ajrud, which refer to him by this name, dating from the period of iron age ii (850 bce - mid 9th century).
the kuntillet ajrud inscription is significant as it shows yahweh was not a monotheistic god at this time, as the inscription refers to "yahweh and his asherah" (as his goddess).
asherah, is of course the goddess of the groves, whose sacred trees were destroyed by order of josiah, just before the fall of jerusalem to the egyptians (in which josiah was killed) and immediately after to the babylonian forces of nebuchadnezzar.
Thanks, City Fan.
I very much enjoy your ABH posts, also!

Dansk, where did you get your information?
I have a brilliant scholar friend in Australia who helped me out with the above. I'm interested in Ancient Bible History, which brought me into contact with him. I've checked some of the details - they're accurate, as I knew they would be. Dansk

Laughed me socks off at Nathan:
I'm waiting for the American Reformed Church of Ahura Mazda,
or "The New Church of Mithra." That would be fun.
Just don't send them over here!

there are a couple of ideas on this.
one is that satan is a corruption of the egyptian god set who murdered the god osiris and was avenged by horus.. the second is found in the religion of the persian zoroaster, who professed the good god ahura mazda who was at war with the evil god angra mainyu, later known as arhiman.
the zoroastrian concept of hell is almost a mirror image of the jewish hell, and zoroaster's religion even had the concept of a purgatory, as well as a last judgement.

I meant to say that it would be an insult to Satan to say that he doesn't exist; as obviously he would like people to think that he does.
Satan can't think anything - he's completely unreal! See my original post.
