  over the past month i have been helping out at a church on a discipleship series on jw.

  the point was to have someone there to teach the members jw doctrine with the end goal of them being able to witness to them.

  4. after reading the scripture i would then ask, "if jesus said all authority has been given then does that not mean that he had power when he spoke this?

  WOULD WOMEN MAKE GOOD ELDERS?

  i've come to love and cherish much of the wisdom that emanates from the dear ladies of this forum and believe watchtower boobed in making all women subservient to the men.

  so, do you think women would make good elders?.

  so i was df'd for living with/having sex with my boyfriend for 3 years and then not ending the relationship and moving out within the week between the first meeting of confession and the second meeting where they tell me what their decision was.

  i did move out 3 months later with the intent of being reinstated over a period of time.

  well i couldn't cut off the relationship with my bf even though i did move out, so i married him after a year and then 2 weeks after that i slept with someone else.

  I actually reasoned that it wasn't adultery because I hadn't filed the marriage papers with the county clerk and so I wasn't legally married when I committed the act.

  Unconnected with your own situation, but if I was in love with a steady girlfriend and we were living together and she went with someone else I would end the relationship. Being married has nothing to do with it.

  i went to the dentist today and was told that i have to floss before i brush my teeth, not after...... i always brushed then i flossed afterwards, and was told that when you floss, you send bacteria on your teeth and that's why you have to floss first.. so, i learned something today...... .

  Well, it's early here, JH, and I've learnt, once again, that threads on JWD disappear over the horizon very quickly!

  I've also learnt, again, that there's no point getting excited over parcel deliveries - even though the dogs do! - as they're not always for me!

  I've never read Penton's book - but he IS an historian:

  The 635 figure appears on page 197 of James Penton's book "Jehovah's Witnesses and the Third Reich: Sectarian Politics under Persecution". (Penton is a historian and former JW.)

  Farkel mentioned Norman Hovland, from Norway, will most likely know the figures due to the research he did on the subject. Norm is a great friend of mine and only 'phoned last night. Wish I'd known about this thread earlier...........

  Anyway, I'll contact him and ask.
