Well, it could mean John has the choice to live forever in some spiritual realm, or come back to the earth (reincarnation/rebirth?) whereupon he'll die again. If he's feeling good where he is, well, he might as well stay there. But does he really have a choice?

What aspect of freedom from the borg do you love the most??????????
by BLISSISIGNORANCE inwe all had personal reasons for becoming jws and we have all left for just as many different reasons.. but i'm really interested in what types of freedom people have found and are enjoying since fleeing from the wts cult.. for me the greatest sense of freedom has been in the way i live my life with my family.
now we are able to 'be free' (in reality we were always free, we just didn't know it because we empowered men and they controlled us) with our time and energy.
we associate with a variety of different people, we sleep in, we garden, we just do nothing, we read books that have nothing to do with the wts, we relax on tues. and thurs.

What does it feel like?

usually i'm the pillar of strength to mrs ozzie who sheds a tear for her kidnapped children each day.
it's been more than a year since the borg sent a henchman with a word from bethel to tell us they'd "got our kids".

Since their kidnapping, there's been a deafening silence, and it hurts.
Had their parents done anything 'wrong'? No, except that they chose to simply not associoate any more and after much Bible study and soul searching started attending a church.
Actually, I'm glad you posted about your feelings, because I still can't shake mine off, either! Of course, mine and that of my missus has been only three months. We haven't even attended a church - don't wish to - and we know it is sheer emotional blackmail. It doesn't help when people post that "it could take years" before one's family come round to the errors of the Watchtower. YEARS!! <*"%!**&! hell (that's another thing, I never used to swear until this happened!).
I wake up every morning thinking of my two girls. I go to bed thinking the same thing. Last week an exJW whose wife still attends meetings told me that my older daughter's husband was appointed a ministerial servant. That means it's likely we won't hear from her for even longer. Her husband is obviously going to be "worthy" of his appointment and keep us at a good distance. I now dislike the guy immensely - and yet I know it's not his fault. It's just that one continually hopes that he would have the balls to ask why two previously dedicated JWs could, along with their two equally dedicated sons, just throw it all away!
Like you, Ozzie, I'm in pain. I was about to say your situation is worse - but ALL such situations defy belief! I've never hated anything so much in all my life! It's made me angry, bitter, resentful, fed up and vengeful. I told my wife the other day that the planes that hit the twin towers should have hit Watchtower at Brooklyn! Obviously, I don't mean it - and I wouldn't want innocents to die - but the situation makes one hate everything about Watchtower.
When I think clearly I can be eloquent. When I don't think clearly I think the biggest crap going!! I know YOU and others like us can TRULY appreciate what I'm saying. I was told that it takes at least six months before one truly chills out from the indoctrination. The painful memories, I was informed, are still there but one can handle them better. I guess you're having a bad day and I'm TRULY sorry, mate!
I've got a lump in my throat so I'd best end this!

I would just suggest to you that there are laws at work, in the lives of people on this planet, that need an explanation.
YO!, Now THAT'S something I totally agree with you on!
Perhaps you'd be kind enough to let me have your opinion on this matter, viz mankind is said to be made in God's image. OK, so if I see someone attacking you in the street I'm going to want to join in and help you! Now, one could say I would be acting in such a manner because God's loving kindness is inside of me; that it's in everyone, really, because we are made in his image.
If this is true, then why did God look down as 6,000,000 Jews were exterminated - including little children holding their mother's hands as they went to the gas chamber? Believe me, this is a question I've wrestled with for decades, even as a Dub. You see, if it's in MY image to want to help the innocent, then why didn't God, who's loving kindess is FAR GREATER than mine, step in and immediately stop the death of such innocents? I am seriously perplexed over such matters as this.
